    1. Not really, I think the top model with all the RAM/ROM/LTE is just under 310 on AliExpress. And the base model just under 230.
Usually resellers come out roughly the same price as ordering it through a Taobao/Tmall agent buying offa those marketplaces or JD.com. With the logistics and margin they’ll have you usually end up paying up to 30% up to around 30-40 bucks more expensive than you’d pay if you were able to pick up one locally. Especially if a device is new, they’ll charge you the most they can because it’s new and people want to get one no matter what. If you want a fair deal, you need to wait out the storm.

    2. acctually mi pad 1 is better than 2 than 3 and 4 is the worst. mi pad 4 is about $195 with “1080p” , NO sd card slot , and only 32g of storage.

    1. Dan Sparshott for the price the Xiaomi Mi pad 4 is better IMO (170$). The best 8″ tablet is the Mediapad M5 currently (320$)

  2. Finally a 4:3 aspect ratio tablet with a retina screen that’s 8 inches. There aren’t many out there like that. Maybe just the Asus Zenpad S 8.0. Do you know of any other 4:3 aspect ratio tablet with at least a 1080p resolution? I think only he Samsung Tab s2 8.0, but that one doesn’t have a blue light filter so it’s a no go for me. Thanks for your help!

    1. I have the Zenpad S 8.0 (CA) and honestly it’s an amazing tablet.. the only downside is you won’t get new updates and the battery is a bit small, but the display is the best I’ve seen in a tablet (better than my iPad mini), and the stylus is really good

    2. There have been 3 generations of the ZenPad and none of them got wide distribution in the U.S.. I got to play with gens 1 & 2, and while nice, they weren’t for me.

    3. Oh yes, of course! Mini 4S but not built in blue light filter (Apps can do it). I still have it here in the other room, it’s been a busy week my memory is shot…

    4. Akhilesh Bhaugeerutty Yea right on…I purchased one on amazon, but it was dead on arrival…Wouldn’t charge or turn on. I bought one on eBay so we’ll see how it goes. Too bad there’s not many 4:3 8 inch tablets out there to chose from that also have a built in blue light filter. Just two so far. I’m going to try the one in video as well.

  3. Can’t Netflix even be side-loaded ? What is the score with this anyway ? And is Amazon Prime Video the same ? Impossible to contemplate the purchase a tablet you can’t watch streaming such content on.

    1. Interesting. You’d think it wouldn’t cost them much to fix that. I guess their target market doesn’t care though.

  4. Are you able to check and see if the screen has PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) at lower brightness levels?

  5. Another great review, thank you. Disappointing it’s got Android 7 and wifi issues. 32GB is insufficient nowadays. Reseller fake bezel proportions in images. Otherwise nice little tablet.

    1. Pretty much always bezels are photoshopped. Those pictures are press images from the manufacturer, the resellers only use those.

  6. hmm, what happened to the Android tablet market? I feel like Google should have pushed Android OS, rather than forking out to Chrome OS. Tweak Android for keyboard and mouse users and we won’t need a Chrome OS… They essentially killed the Android tablet market since the majority of people in the market now are only looking at iPads.

    1. Mike Cane I have a tablet with Pheonix os on it. My tablet does not have a Intel CPU. I think there are a couple of different versions of it.

    2. Huh. The official Phoenix site mentioned only Intel. Must be some hacked fork. What tablet do you have it on and why?

  7. Probably Helio X20 get lot’s off throttling coz the heat so the performance poor..
Nice review Chris.. enjoying like always.. waiting Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 review.. and Mi Max 3..

    1. Could be after it all its got 10 cores. But I find them quite poor and worse than the MTK8176 which should be the case. The Mi Pad 4 has shipped due Friday or Monday look for a first unboxing of it then. Mi max 3 this month I hope, really looking forward to it as a Mi Max 2 fan & user.

  8. how’s the screen at low brightness? at nights after using my xiaomi and taking teclast t10 it looks like bright sun even on lowest brightness so i continue to use my phone instead to browse 🙁

    1. It’s very bright, the lowest setting should be much, much lower. But can be improved via Miravison settings and using B&W. I forgot to mention this in the video on the screen.

  9. i wonder how did xiaomi fit in a 6600mah battery into the same profile, this teclast m89 would have been near perfect if it had even 6000mah which would almost make it a ten hours device

  10. I had no luck with this brand. The T10 died in no time with minimal use. There’s a thread on xda-developers of people who own this unit and I’m not convinced it’s really a buy of any sort. Lots of problems. I had to beg Chase bank for a charge back.

    1. Really my ones good. Once of the better tablets for $199 but it’s down to the Chinese tablet lottery, I guess I got a good unit.

  11. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 should be interesting with DEX and if the tablet can be power a second monitor.

  12. Hey Chris, I really want to buy one but I can’t find any website that ships with DHL (i won’t use the local post since the packages get “lost”). Do you know such a website?

  13. This one seems good. HDMI will attract a lot of buyers. I bought a used Zenpad 3s for 220€. It has the same processor. Very happy with it.
