Tablet vs laptop

So, what is a computer these days? It’s a good question when you consider how powerful some tablets have gotten, and when you see laptops with touchscreens and stylus pens. Senior Editor Lauren Goode makes an argument for why things like tactile keys and desktop software still matter. Subscribe: https://goo.gl/G5RXGs

  1. So torn, I love the battery life and loud speakers of my budget iPad, but I live in Google apps world and they just don't work well on the iPad. I bought a Google chrome os tablet for the full web browser with extensions and the darn thing is soooo glitchy. Back to the old clamshell. (sigh)

  2. Desktop, laptop and tablet are originally designed to fill their specific niches. I game on my desktop computer which rocks intel core I 7 9700k, Nvidia RTX 2080 and 32 GB of DDR4 Ram. Not much comes even close to that caliber in the mobile realm. I use my laptop as my main workstation. As a programmer/web app developer, I get work done on my MacBook Pro which allows me to boot both mac os and windows 10 and use software like visual studio, Microsoft SQL Server, VMware player, etc. And I watch youtube, send emails, take notes, facebook and write occasional documents on my iPad. So, I don't think there really is any compelling reasons for me to combine all three. I cannot live without any of them.

  3. The line between the two is becoming more and more blurred. You can't really argue that an ipad is less cumbersome to travel with and it's not like you can't add a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. If apple merged osx and ios then what?

  4. Perhaps my laptop won't last as long as your tablet. But at least I know I can reload another battery! It always helps to keep a spare on board. No long term charge required during the action 🙂

  5. Try a samsung phone with usb-c feature and a touchscreen monitor with a battery pack. bam! I can now travel with my phone, and make it a tablet when there is a need

  6. This is really not a good comparison as the iPad falls short due to software rather than hardware issues . I have a galaxy tab s4 which has overcomes the software shortfalls of iOS and It can do everything a full laptop can do particularly when teamed with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Maybe the galaxy s4 rather than the iPad Pro should have been used
