MJX Bugs 2SE Brushless GPS FPV Follow Circle Waypoint Drone Flight Test Review

This upgrade to the popular Bugs 2 drone includes the addition of follow me, circle, and waypoints advanced flight modes. Coming soon to all vendors, but here is its description from MJX http://www.mjxrc.net/goodshow-info/bugs-2-se.html

– Brushless 1806 1800KV motors.
– GPS/GLONASS positioning.
– 1080p video camera records video directly to microSD card eliminating WiFi lag and frame dropping in recordings.
– FPV video and control range of approximately 300 meters.
– 7.4V 1800mah battery provides 12-18 minutes flight time depending on type of flight.
– Bugs Go app provides FPV video, telemetry, and advanced flight modes capability (and no, the advanced flight modes won't work with Bugs 3 or original Bugs 2 drones).

– App uses 802.11ac WiFi. Not all phones are capable of using 802.11ac WiFi. It's very important to verify that your phone can indeed use 802.11ac before considering purchase.
– Google maps does not seem to work with the WiFi map screen.
– No video stabilization (maybe EIS can be added in the future?).

    1. Congratulations. You were the first to say First (and who had not already previously won a shoutout). You win a shoutout in a future QC101 video. Again congratulations!

  1. Oddly perhaps with all the GPS drone flights I’ve done I’ve rarely used ‘follow me’ or ‘circle mode’ but I have used waypoints extensively (especially when searching for lost models).
Until that facility works properly I’m not sure this has value for me as the original bugs 2C (with an AIO) is slightly better as a camera drone and probably just as good as a search drone.
Nice honest review as usual though

  2. Camera not good. Video stutters probably lost frames or low frame rate. Range was disappointing. Still a pretty good buy. Really like the silver.

  3. This looks like a good rendition of the popular 2w . I have a2w paid $203 Canadian. This one carries a ridiculous $140+ tariff and custom fee to Canada making it almost as exspensive as A Spark . Why just this MJX product carrying such a fee to Canada?

  4. Seems the camera is a little better than my bugs 2c. Distance is poorer. I like u can see what is going on in the phone while flying at least in the WiFi range.

  5. Looks like a nice drone Q101. I assume it uses 5G wifi again for the FPV like the previous Bugs2W, which is a pity as few people here have that on their phones here in UK 🙁 Would you say that the 1080p camera is the same camera quality as the camera on the Bugs2 (non FPV version) ? Cheers once again for the fine videos. Tc

  6. I have the MJX Bugs 2W it is awesome and the range is 999 meters then it hits the geo fence and returns home. it always comes home. it is incredible. over a 1/2 mile away and it comes home every time. I took my controller apart and put a piece of scotch tape over the speaker the beep is half as loud now.
