So congratulations good morning, quadcopter 101, here with a review of a neat new, tiny whoop. This is the beta fpv meteor 65. Meteor 65 is a little 23 gram micro boot as you can see here, but it is a brushless little microbe, pretty powerful little thing, but let's go over what we got on this particular little drone here. We'Ll start off from the top to the bottom and we'll start off with the camera. This is an M 0. 1. All in one camera setup includes a video transmitter. It comes out the back here. It is a 600 TVLine camera that's NTSC with 120 degree field of view of its lens it's 48 channels, which means it also has race, bands and 25 milliwatts video transmitter. It is not switchable to 200 or any others than 25 again. This particular drone is mainly meant for indoor flying, although you can do outdoor, since this is a brushless, and I am going to be flying outdoors today. Okay with that video transmitter on this, it also has on screen display that you can edit in beta flight and edit to your desires. You know move things around on the on screen display. Also, it also has smart audio capability for editing your fpv chin or your fpv transmission channels, and also your pins, while you're out in the field. That makes it easy to do using your controller on your remote controller and your goggles to access the menus to do all those changes now on board.
Here we have am a tech, f4, 11 mini flight control board loaded up with beta flight 3.5 0.7 that's dated March 15th of 2019. So you know it's a little bit old, but we'll see how well it'll do with this particular drum with the flight control board. On board here, it is integrated with a fr skies free sky. I like to call it XM transmitter, but it's also available with DSM, X, PNP, yeah, boot, Abba, DSM, X and also PampP. Now, one thing, though it has, since this has that in this one mine, has that integrated flight control board with fr sky now to bind. This is a little bit different than most others, where you have to simultaneously hold down the bind pin while plugging in the battery. You don't want to do that. Folks with this particular one, because that's there's the bind pin but that bind pin is also your boot. Pin so if you hold down that pin while or that switch that gold see a little plug there, that's a gold switch and you push. You know, and you hold add that, while plugging in a battery that puts this into boot mode, not in the bind mode. Okay, to bind this particular drum, you need to plug in the battery first, let the drone, energize and then press that button and you it starts out with a green blinking light. Then it'll go solid, while you're binding the using your transmitter, but again you plug in the battery press that button the green light goes solid.
Then you go to your transmitter, select, bind and that green light starts blinking and I believe it goes off and on and then your bound, in other words, okay, when it goes from from solid to whatever it does do your about, but again to bind this you Plug in the battery first and then press that gold pin or that gold plug there to enter bind mode. I have made the mistake of going into boot mode and it would not buy anything why why why? Okay, also on board with this flight control board, is a 9 amp, worn one esc, 9 amp continuous 10 amp max that's, pretty big powerful. You see for these tiny, tiny little motors tiny little drone, but we're gon na talk about that 9 amp. Here shortly. Why that's special was what why this is capable of doing 9 amps also, this comes with zero 802 20 mm kv motors brushless little motors brushless motors ever seen there, and with that there are also 31 millimeter, three bladed props that are friction held on. So you, before you go fly for the first time. I recommend pinching these down each of these dads with your thumb and forefinger here, to make sure that they are fully seated on to that, because these can't pop off friction is held, drops they can't pop off and you when that to happen, because you'll have a Hard time finding these little props, if they do pop out now let's talk about the heart of the matter.
Just you know I mentioned it. Has nine amp capability? Yes, that's a lot of amps for this little thing: how do they do that? Well notice? A new connector here on this particular drone. This is a bt, 2.0 connector it's, a new type of battery power connector and they provide you with. I got two batteries: 300 milli ampere Li HV with this new BT connector plug notice, it's, half oval and half flat on the other end, but the heart of the matter is the two pins inside there are larger cross sectional area and what that does folks? Is it reduces the resistance of the battery connector from from the battery, and if you reduce the electrical resistance, you can increase the current that goes through these wires. In fact, this is as compared to the ph 2.0 connector. This can carry twice the amount of current ph 2.0 connectors max current is only 4.5 amps. This new BT, 2.0 connector is up there MC. What did I say? I said it robbed. The pH 2.0 connector max current is 4.5 amps, and this new BT 2.0 was max. Current is 9 amps double the amount of the pH 2.0, so you should be able to get double the amount of power going to your motors to give you extra, but also the more importantly, it reduces the amount of battery sag that you see normally with my Ph 2 point connector drone. If I'm really punching it out there or going at high speeds, the voltage will drop below 3.

But I know that I still got a lot of Kurt or million per hour left in this battery to fly and if I slow down – and it goes back up above 3.0 volts – so you know telling me that could continue flying that's sag. This should not do that this, should that not do those momentary transitions when you get a lot of current, the voltage shouldn't drop significantly like it can with a pH 2.0 connector, and that is the advantage of this main advantage of this new connector. This pH or BT 2.0 connector. Now they realize you're going to have problems charging this with your normal charger, these this new type of connector, and to get around that they give you not two of these. At least I got two of these adapter cables that adapts the pH 2.0 by just simply plugging in the battery or that's the BT 2.0 to pH 2.0. So you can use your normal charger that you normally use to charge your batteries with this particular battery. On top of that, they give you another one without any connector on here. If you have a different type of charger, so you can convert this particular cable into. If you have a connector for your specific charger that you could add to this and use your specific charger, they also give you at least I got in my box. These connector plugs a male and female and male connector, BH 2.
0 connector plugs. I think the idea is that they want you to convert some of your pH 2.0 batteries over to this new format. They said they're promising a videos to show how to do that, but that video is not on their website yet on a beta, F Peavey's website, but they do give you these four connectors for conversion of your batteries that you already have, along with some shrink tubing. I think this comes into play too, when you're doing that conversion, so I think that's about it let's take that a little beta, fpv meteor. Sixth, oh, I did not cover it offers I'm. So sorry, folks, there's one more important thing. The camera is set up to 35 degrees up okay for high speed flight out of the box, that's for high speed flying, but if you're flying indoors you're going to going to want a lower elevation on your camera lens, and to do that, you just pop off The top unscrew this camera bracket slide out the current camera lens it's in there attach this to your drone by the three screws slide in the old camera and then pop the top back on again, and you have now twenty five degrees. You know lesser up. Elevation of the cameras to enable you to see better indoors for slow speech lines, so the one in the box that's, provided this for slow speed flying and the one it's stock on the on the drone coming out of the box is for high speed flying at Thirty five degrees so that's, the meteor 65, that is all let's, take it out in the field and fly it.
So I hope you enjoy this flight good morning, quadcopter 101. We were at it when my favorite flying fields for flying these little things. Okay, let's take the meteor, 64 65 put it in there. We are connected to the battery, as you can see there we're going to start off flying in line of sight, doing line of sight and alright let's arm it arming the motors motors arm and take it to the air let's see how this thing flies with 1s Battery well it's not super fast, but I wouldn't expect it to be let's. Bring it up. Close show it to you cute, look at the whole thing. Isn'T it let's see how fast we can get it to go going around coming back punching forward that's about it. Speed actually somewhat respectable for a 1s flyer bringing it back over here and what I want to do now is we're gon na switch to horizon mode center position. Horizon mode is still balanced, but we can go up and do a flip coming around going forward. Go it up forward flip, coming around bring it back over going up, multiple flips, okay, go back to stabalize, bring it back around man. This is dipping it around a bit, so not bad flier and stabilized mode and horizon that's. His punch just bring it back over again let's. Do that again to show you a punch, punch, shot full punch at 1s battery, bring it over close over on and up and disappearing.
Okay that's enough of line of sight flying folks, let's bring it back over. If I can figure its direction, it's pointed it's coming my way. Now there we go and over there we go and also disarmed me, so let's put another battery in it and do some fpv fine, so we're on folks. Okay, we are ready to go. I am selecting acro back earlier and our me, let me just be on my head for a second there and arming the motors taken to the airfield. You know this is a 1s flier, so this I wouldn't expect this thing to fly very fast, pushing forward on this and it's going backwards hold on bug something's, not quite right. I think my battery might be a little too far back I'm. Could you go get that I'm, not sure what the deal is, but this was sliding backwards and I did calibrate this let's. Try it again. We'Ll take off from here see what the problem is, but it I was giving a full forward pitch. It was sliding backwards. Yeah so let's try it again me school will start off and stabilize this time stabilize mode and arming okay, it's fine, but I want that air mode and it did it. Look like this now see you fly, got a lot of wounds, always get me in this time of year. When the leaves go off the branches I can't see them let's, try it again, let's bring it back and we'll go back there hacker.
Oh, let me bring it back toward you. Try a throw one more time hold on folks. Why just learn and switch back to a crow I'm, not sure why? Okay back on the pad going back to a crow and farming motors, how many motors? Thank you guys again pushing forward and it's not going forward. Folks something's wrong with my setup here. We'Re gon na fly this stabilized hold on little eyes there again armed we're, just gon na fly. It stabilized folks, I'm gon na see what the problem is there, but I could not get it to fly forward, so I stayed like and that's the way most people fly these indoors. Do this the idea to be able to do that you can do that indoors. I like this and I'm, going to do that for this, like we're, just gon na fly on stabilized mode right above my head sail in now I got some sag but power so I'm, not gon na land, now 0.9. Nothing so we're gon na have to land. It down that's how much white job you get out of this new battery I'm gon na land. It right there well I'm, not sure what the problem was. Folks I was, I did, have the battery centered, I go to Accra mode and the thing was drifting back. It should not be be drifting at all, actually an acro mode, because it should just maintain a steady flight, steady position, whatever you had in accra mode, you, whatever you supposition, you said it ads, should stay at, but I give it forward tilt and I want it To come back so I'm, not sure what the issue is.
There, I'm gon na double check that in beta flight and if there is a problem, I find I'll do a post edit here with this, but flying in stabilized mode. You know which most people do in the summertime or in winter time indoors yeah. This is nice and maneuverable. I was able to go in and out of the trees very well, but even with this BT 2.0 connector, I didn't notice some sag there, and also on top of that. The flight time was relatively short for this little 1s drone. So I'm good indoor flyer, not so much outdoor flyer, not so much an aquifer because I'm not sure what the issue was there. So, despite this quadcopter 101 setting up we're gon na try it again this time flying in air yeah let's. Take that see if it flies right properly, this time got a little bit of wind today, so we're gon na see if this flies in the wind also no I'm, not sure what the problem is I'm in Accra and I wanted to bait a flight. It turns everything off, except putting it into a crow I've, checked mice, my controls in beta flight to make sure they were operating properly. But when I go into a crow mode and a crow and I give full forward pitch it's, just not moving it's just hovering. Like it's a stabilized mode – and I really can't – explain what's going on here – okay, this time I'm gon na go to the pure air mode.
Now I did turn off fpv animal restrictions they were on. Originally I thought that might have been the problem, but that doesn't seem to correct the issue: let's, try it in air mode. Okay, we are in air mode, just pure air, nothing else and with it and then arming and what I'd stick to the air again and air mode works. Fine. Now, okay, I don't know what it is with a crow, but a crow was not working with this. Okay, it's flying fine now in air mode, so keep that in mind folks. For some reason, this thing is having problems with a crow, but let's go up higher. Well, we finally got a operating properly and let's. Try that does that nicely coming down again, let's. Do some passes by it so we're good let's, get myself we're gon na. Do the remainder of the flight and air mode we're gon na keep it in air mode folks. For some reason, a crow does not work properly with the current setup here: okay, I'm. Getting buffeted by the wind again we got quite a bit of a wind here: let's track went through the trees. Why gon na win? I got a wooden let's. Try flies through the trees in a crow or air air mode, yeah it's a nice little drone least in here. What is an issue, so maybe I better quit don't try to go through the narrower trees. You can still go through the bigger trees.
I think, but it's flying nicely, it is a nice little machine and let's see any motor sag. So, although I'm getting low, I know a little bit of voltage sag. There are three point, one that went that 3.0, but it's still flying so now. We know you need to fly in air mode with this okay, I'm gon na pop up a fresh battery in there and we'll do the second flight hold on folks. I have another battery. Okay, we got a lot of geese coming in here, but I'm still gon na fly, I don't care, okay, selective air mode, again air and not a crow and arming the motors. I take it to the air the second battery. If you go going up higher a bit, let's try the range out on this thing go over to the pole these folks here tonight, but they're all here we go coming her head coming around okay. What I'm gon na do with the remainder of the battery voltage here, is I'm gon na stay low and goes through the trees that's. What you know this is intended for indoor flying to be able to go like this. What I'm doing right here coming around, where around the trees just slaloming through the trees and you should get light? Are they gon na fire? Look over those keister over here somewhere yeah let's fly with the geese. I better turn. I better turn good ihb. I hope that came out folks.
Okay, I'll leave them alone for now, but that was pretty cool. That was pretty amazing anyway. So Snuggies come here to Ridgecrest California, everywhere from Canada, okay, we're gon na land. Here shortly much like that that I get minutes, I got a land, bring it fast there. We go well interesting little drum again. The battery on this has this new BT, 2.0 connector, the idea being to reduce the voltage sag, and I did see some reduction in voltage sag there, but there's still a little bit, but nothing like you'd see with a pH 2.0 connector. The flying ability of this it's yeah – this is very good for indoor flying and I was doing slaloming and a crow who fit through the trees heard. You know, I'm, not the best flyer in a crow, but I was able to do it through the trees. But again the fpv angle mix setting this comes already set with fpv mix. There are some issues with that, as particular particular I'm, not sure if that was the issue, I really don't know what the issue is folks. I went into Accra mode and it felt like I was in stabilized mode with bad balance. It wanted to fly backwards and I'm, giving a full forward pitch in a crow mode, and it was still sliding backwards, and you know it should should not have done that at all. You know I should have been able to actually flip it over.
If I wanted to in Accra – but it was not doing that, but when I switched to air mode you know air acro, everything was fine, so I really can't explain what the issue is. There I'm sure the beta fpv will figure it out and in the follow on versions of this inning correct at that issue. So, and also I was flying with the birds that was hotfoot, so hope you enjoyed this flight. I hope that recorded came out. This is quad copter water, one side again: hi quad copter 101.
