This is a three battery of pro version. It also comes to show it to you here, just quick, real, quick before I move it aside, but it comes with a carrying case. This is the hubsan carrying case for this particular drone, looking inside its it's kind of a compact case, but it will fit all the components in there ball, though rather snugly, okay, you're gon na, have to arrange them very nicely to get them all in there to Get all this stuff in there, but really this one was all packed inside there. So let me adjust the camera a bit folks, because it's not centered there we go it's a little better, but let's go over what we get in the Box. In the carrying case. You get the charger for the batteries and the charging cable that plugs into the battery. Let me show you this this it's a 3s plug on one side which can plug into some balance chargers and a converter port on the other side. But I recommend using the provided charger to get the appropriate charge for this. The batteries that come with this it also comes with. This is interesting with a plug for your vehicle. If you want to plug it into your car and charge it through your car it'll. Take quite a while, but you know, if you're driving somewhere, you can do this. You know long distance drive of several hours. Maybe that will charge it.
You get the instruction manual it's, very, very brief instruction manual. I recommend going online to hubsan and getting their PDF version of the instruction manual it's easier to read. Also because to read that thing, I need to use a magnifying glass with my old eyes. You get the drone, you get the the protective case for the gimbal on the drone. You get two controller, and again I mentioned that I got the three battery version and this is the batteries that you get with this 3000 milliamp per hour. Eleven point: four volts: there is no difference between these batteries and the hubsan xeno. The basic captains II know. So you can use hops and zeno batteries with this, or vice versa. I'Ve already tried folks, they work they're the exact same. You get the controller and you get on the go cables for the controller you get a cable for this. One is for Apple phones, and you get a micro, USB cable for Android phones and also a Type C. This is the one that I got folks for my phone type seek Android phone, a Type C on the go cable. Now, what do you need you on to go cables for? Well, this you can't connect to the Wi Fi of the drone, if you wish, but you're not going to get maximum range out of the drone. By doing such, you really want to connect your phone to the controllers signal, but you you can use.
I believe you can use 802.11 AC, Wi Fi, but it's much better to use these cables here, because there is no Wi Fi interference if you're using the cables to connect to the controller and the controller will relay the CV signal back and forth, and the control Signals back and forth via the controller to the drone. Okay, don't use don't connect directly to the drone. As what I'm saying folks with your Wi, Fi or else you'll, get very, very poor range. You also get a little micro, USB cable, and this is for charging the controller, as the controller has a three point. Seven volt built in three point: seven volt 2600 milliamp per hour battery inside of it for powering it and again that's what this cable is. For. Now this xeno Pro is essentially has the same features as the originals. You know, with a few exceptions and that's what I'm gon na focus on in this. This review here I'm, not going to go over all the things the xeno can do. There are many many videos on that subject already and I just want to focus on what's different between this and the original xeno. Okay. Looking at both of these, let me take off its cover. First, just a quick look at both of these. I you don't, really see much difference. Folks, let's talk about the physical differences that I have seen. First off let's start with the the propellers. The propellers are screwed in with little Phillips screws.
The propellers on the original xeno are flathead screws. I don't know if there's a big difference in that, but that's the difference between the two that I can see there. The second difference is let's. Look at the original xeno. If we look at its camera lens let's focus on the lens here. You notice there's not much of an indent in there. Okay, what you see on the news II know is: if you look at the lens, there is quite a bit of an indent before you get to the lens there. What this means is folks, you can put in optional, neutral density filters inside this recessed space here, they're not available yet they're, supposedly on the way, but this will have the capability of optional, neutral density filters. You know for cutting down on glare, mainly, I believe it's mainly used for those type of filters to get a Universal reduction in light going into the lens across all color spectrums, I believe, is the idea for the neutral density filters now, the other difference, physical difference Between the original xeno, if you look in the belly of the originals, you know: okay, it's, nice and flat there's, no openings on this on the new Hobson's II. No pro there is these two little openings in the belly here: okay, now I'm, not sure what they're, for the only thing I can think of the reason I'm. Putting these openings here is to prove cooling ventilation inside the aircraft itself here to help with cooling.
So that's what I think these are for I'm, not sure don't take my word for it, but that's. The only thing I can think of right now, the purpose of that being there. Okay, so that's the physical differences of the drone let's talk about the differences between the controllers between the two. Now, if you people have complained about the original controller, you find it here's the original controller, a little bit dusty, but they've been complaining about these gimbals. On the original controller, there were two too sloppy to loose. What they've done with the Z? No pro controller is they've, stiffened them up, they have stiffer resistant Springs inside and also there's. One other thing, I've noticed, is that if you move this around the outer edges there's a little indent for each of the cardinal points as you're going around okay there's one. There one there one there one there one there one there one there. So you know you can, you know, find the center position or you know if you want to go forward and you don't want to go diagonally. You can find that actual pure forward point by just feeling for the indent, as you go around like that, so the same you know going for any of these directions. Any of these cardinal directions so that's the main differences that are seen between the two now let's talk about the capabilities between the two, the advertised capabilities. Oh one other thing I forgot to mention this one's a little bit heavier than this by about 20 grams.
This is 727 grams, I believe, is 720 grams or 707 grams. What does that mean? That means there's something inside here: that's different what's in there I'm, not quite sure, but it's, 20 grams and I'm, not sure what sure what the actual difference is between the two, because it's not really explained somebody's gon na open one of these up and find out What where that extra 20 grams comes from, but right now I can't explain it. Okay, I mentioned not nd filters capability on this holes in the belly. Now the big difference between this and the hubsan original hubsan is this one's supposed to have much greater range. Four kilometer range they're, saying fpv and control range out to four kilometers. I kind of find that hard to believe and a quick test flight that I did yesterday. I did not get four kilometers. I just got about 1100 kilometers before I lost signal, but we're gon na give it another shot today out here, I'm gon na go out to the dry lake bed and really test that range. But if that's true, that means they're they've either either increased the signal. Strength from the drone to the control or they've improved the reception ability of the controller to see that signal or farther greater range, or maybe a little bit of combination of both I'm, not quite sure, but supposedly again. This is advertised with a range of about the four kilometers again I find that kind of hard to believe so the biggest difference is again let's go over them.
The biggest differences between this and the original xeno is one the advertised increased range of four kilometers and to improved gimbals on the controller. Okay and the neutral density filter capability of the lens. On the on the drum now, there are other advertised features that I've seen like panoramic spherical photography, capability, that's, probably well that's, not right now, it's not capable of doing such I've tried. It already there's no feature to do such in the app yet. But I think that is going to be an added feature of the X Hopson, app that's, going to come down in the near future. And actually I got a feeling that might be applicable or both of these are the originals Eno and the Xena Pro. Because you know something like that is a software change in the app and if, if this can do it I'm pretty sure the original xeno can do it so we'll see we'll see when that feature does come on. But again, the panoramic photography is in terms of pictures panoramic pictures. Not video is not currently available with this drone, so that's the Xena Pro the difference is what's new about it. Let'S take it out into the field and fly let's see how it flies folks. So I hope you enjoy this flight good morning, quite copter 101. Here we are at it again at one of my favorite flying fields here, we're gon na do a range test today. Now I flew this yesterday added another one of my flying fields and I only got out to about 1100 meters range I'm, not sure if that was a fluke or not we're gon na try it again.
Today, we're gon na fly out here today, today's focus again and we'll be on range testing. Okay, this I'm, not gon na, go into all the different features of the xeno like follow me in circle, mail orbit. It has the same features as the original xeno. Okay, the big difference between this one here is the big difference between this and the original xeno is the claim distance of four kilometer range we're gon na see. If we can go out past the one kilometer that the xeno can get and get useful video and fpv video at a past, one kilometer range so that's the idea of today's flight. What I'm gon na do folks is I'm. The turn of trainers in today, I'm gon na try to follow it all the way down. I passed a thousand meters and see if we still got video so hope you enjoy this flight now I'm gon na do the setup I'm gon na you don't need to see the setup I'm gon na skip that today, because that's kind of redundant, just like it Doesn'T change there's, no change between it and the original xenos, so you don't need to see that we're just get into the air so hold on folks. Okay, we are ready to go. I did the compass calibration after connecting it to the drone. We are connected I'm. Going to start the video recording right now and we are going to do an automatic takeoff first thing: the automatic takeoff button checking stability, nice and stable takeoff.
Good stability here, I'm gon na be flying diagonally toward different Sun here. So let me go a bit higher to. I want to go up to about 20 meters from view from this position here, we'll rat, so we're, going up going up going up. Did we reach about 20 meters that's? What I want now I'm gon na lower the gimbal a bit don't need to see you so much sky right about there. That should be good, so we can see more desert than sky, okay, so right overhead, pushing forward and we're heading up on now I'm gon na head for the this angle of the train, this side of the tree and appoint my antennas off in the direction of That part of the train, so we shouldn't lose signal as we're, going up on and pushing harder forward to get maximum speed and we're, hitting a not bond turn to the left. A bit and we're 25 meters up and 160 meters still heading up bond let's see if we can reach the edge of the train. 250 you're coming on to 47 248 meters, 255 meters, still in a knot, bond 319 to have a good fpv, 350 good fpv that's, my wife walking around with a dog that's it you hear the background here: 400 meters and he got bonds. 25 meters up 500 meters still have good fpv signal. Thinking about turning around the other direction, now I'm gon na 49 I'm trying to make it to 15 and then we're gon na turn so yeah. Today I got much better signal. I don't know what the issue was yesterday: I'm, not even thinking not even releasing that video, because I got great great signal today so we're out at 1500 meters I'm going to stop it right about there now we're gon na turn to the right and see if We maintain sit that signal with the turn and I want to come up along the edge of the train there's the train, pushing forward real, strong signal today.
Folks, you know, I really can't explain what happened yesterday and again: I'm. Not I think, I'm, not even gon, na release that video, because I already got out the 1100 meters in the last signal, but today I've got super strong signal. 1400 meters again, I want to stay on this edge of the trade, but I don't wan na go that far pushing forward. Turning to the left coming back on this side of the Train, I don't want to be on that side of the Train, because I'd have to go ride that trade to retrieve this drone. This goes easily past thousand meters come into the fire end of the train, and I want to see if I can make it down to the there's a little bridge, a little bridge rail rail bridge past the edge of the Train, see if we can make that And from there I'm going to do a return to home 65 power I'm going to do the train still point my antennas to the drone 680 meters away: okay, 713 meters away still hidden up behind there. 735 61 battery power, 780 meters away 59 battery power. So I'm gon na start turning to the right will come up this road here so yeah you know, although this can't they say this can go out to 4 kilometers. I would strongly advise against anybody tried to do that, because you don't have the battery power because right now, I'm at 53 battery power, and if you do such well, that's gon na happen is you're. Gon na run out of battery let's see you there considering doing such boys got good signal, good fpv, but yeah. This is excellent signal coming in on this thing, I'm heading up the road should be heading back in my direction now we're, similar meters out.
You know what I'm good at 50 power I'm hitting return to home. It comes directly back to us right now at 50, so automatic returned home. Now next thing, yesterday I was trying that apron landing automatically apron landing or it looks for the my parking apron on the ground and tries to land directly on it. We'Re gon na see if it had problems yesterday, let's see if it has a better time doing. Such out here on the sand open sand, there's no scrub brush around for it to get confused with it's, just open sand let's see if it can spot it, but we are 425 meters away in bond at 44 percent battery power, see what I mean folks, you Really don't want to try to go to 4 kilometers about 1500 kilometers, where I was at mm, maybe maximum. I would command considering avoiding going to 4000 because I don't think you will make it back in bond in bond here. See I'm already getting a low battery warning 40 can hear it right now at 130 meters. So you can hear it. It is a loud drone. 30 meters, you start to hear it coming overhead. That'S it sport mode folks, I don't know about it being sporty we're gon na call it quits the sport mode, cuz that's, not too sporty. No, I still want to try one other thing while we're out here is waypoints let's see if we can do weight points here after his battery dies out what I'm trying to do folks is get a good sense of what is the flight time of this aircraft? Yesterday I was getting about 17 18 minutes it's advertised at 23 minutes, but it really can't do that or didn't do it yesterday go back to GPS normal mode at 31, while we're up here let's try again we'll go over here swap itself there and I got To go about five meters: seven meters up lowering the get ball, come on down; Gitmo point it toward my direction.
Till you see me, okay, you see me up there, let's go in there flight modes here and let's. Try it's warning me: 30 that's, fine! Following mode doing that you just fall on high winds and yep that's. True don't use high boat, but there okay, I selected myself, let's see if it and then I hit go and we are now an active track. Let'S see if it follows B it does. You know it's it's interesting the way this works, that can't follow your position around it's like being pulled on a string it's a DJI style, but follow me now I'd, like actor tract better than GPS tracking, because it's much more smoother, much more professional. Looking instead of bobbing around because there is no error between what you're, you know where it says where it thinks your ad versus, where the your GPS on your phone says, it's at usually there's a difference between where the drone thinks you're at where your phone's GPS Thinks you're at and that creates problems with tracking. This is much better for follow me as it's much smoother and we're gon na fly it into her and low battery we're gon na take a walk through the desert with it following me, like a puppy battery powers down to 25. Can I raise that give go up while we're doing this doing everything you control over the gimbal? Obviously, not so oh it's following me, there is no control over the gimbal, so we're gon na head back one other thing we can do while we're out here is why don't we do a follow me.

One person left over from the weekend over there camping, but they camp over in this dry lakebed off to the left here after I like bed over there, and then they take off on these trails all around here. If you notice, these hills are just filled with trails all around here under highway off highway vehicles, many motorcycles motorcycles, and these hang, I don't know what they're called good little go. So this will give us our flight time here. This is the low battery return to home folks hanging overhead. Now I am going to be recording all the ways so we're not gon na. This was a GPS return to home without the optical assistance and we're off about a meter. Oh God, look at that dust, yeah! Ok! Let me pop one more battery in and we'll do some Waypoint flying so hold on folks, ok, we've reconnected to the drone with a new battery fresh battery in there. Now. What I want to try is Waypoint flying. If we go into here and hit Waypoint mode. Waypoint mission planning notice that we got a map of the area where we're at since this is not connected to Wi Fi directly. Your phone is not connected to Wi Fi, directly we're connected through the USB cable here that and that enables us to access mobile data networks simultaneously, with the connection to the FPV of the drum that's, a limitation in some of the toy grade drones and that you Can'T simultaneously connect the data network versus connecting to the drone with your phone, because a lot of phones won't allow you to simultaneously connect to a data network versus connecting to Wi Fi.
This one will okay, now i'm suman out of bed here because i'm, going to hit a few waypoint I'm gon na set up a few weight points for this drone to go out to. Let me find one here something of interest on the screen. Here we will go down here, I'm, going to draw and hit a point there and we'll go down the road to the left. Not to about that point. There that'll be number one and we'll head over directly to the train and put number two right about there over by the train. Then we're going to come back toward us hit, draw here and good point right. There where's number one where's number, two, all right: I'm gon na delete one of these points, there's, probably 200. There there we go and we're gon na go down the road, a bit say down to right about there and then from there come straight home. So that'll be our weight. Delete mission. Wait what the way point missions limits have been exceeded limit to kilometers mission length to four point: four thousand meters right: keep it and we're gon na hope well see if it actually takes, but we're gon na hit submit, and it sends successfully now we're gon na Put the drone in the air before I hit and done: okay done is one and it actually executed. So we'll go up. We run into issues while we're flying this route. I am going to hit return for hit, stop and then return to home, but hitting done their captors enter and wait play mode.

You know, especially if you got an area you want to explore, and you have you go on your map and say I wonder what that is on my map over there. You can just click on it and the drone will go over to it on your your map. You know, based on the google satellite views. I think that's just neat be able to do that. Okay, with 262 meters away it's 2 kilometer mission a little over 2 kilometer mission, 330 meters away let's, see if go back to our map. How far we done the next Waypoint we there net still ahead in the Waypoint 1. I could see why it was concerned about going that far so again.
We we could easily stop the mission, though along this route and then have it, do a return to home but went back making sure we still got fpv. We do 430 meters away. I think that go back to the map. What is my first Waypoint yeah that road there, when we get to that intersection area, should turn to the right and focusing on keeping my antennas pointed the flat end, and my antennas pointed to the drone at 520 meters away. She'Ll be turning right here. 20 meters, up turning to the right and heading to the Train off in the distance there let's go back to the map let's see. Where do we? Are we going on this map we're going right up to the close to the edge of the Train where the two roads come together at a V, so there it is heading towards its next Waypoint, 573 meters, away 595 meters away and 84 battery power, keeping an Eye on that, if I hit 50 again folks, somebody hit returned home from the submission 625 meters away. Going back to the map close, are we or we're about two thirds of the way there to this next point? Is that a car there well there's? No, it looks like a little bridge there. Okay, so don't get getting there. 686 meters away coming up on point number two number two: what was there near the train? 81 percent battery power again always keeping an eye on your battery power, especially when you're doing these waypoint missions you don't, want to exceed your battery.
It cuz. I don't think this – has the capability to compute hey I'm too far away based on my battery power. I should return home now I don't know. If it does that or not tell you the truth, folks, you know, I think you really need to manually keep track of your battery power versus your distance away. I could be wrong. I'M sure people will chime in below and correct me if I'm wrong on that, but I like to keep an eye on my battery power. So when do we point number three? Where is waypoint number three again, let me go back to the map that's right at the main road coming back to the main road, so there's, the main road off there, 650 meters away going further 601 meet, not further closer 590 meters away. I think I see our car off in the distance there's a house up on the hill there. Yes, I think that's us there, 537 meters away on 71 battery power. Now let me go into the settings see if I can increase the speed here of waypoints in the settings here. I forget where white boy was I'm in the top here aircraft weight point settings. Can i trace the speed? No okay thought you could increase the speed, but now okay, we're, coming up on the next Waypoint we're 66 percent battery power. So no you can't, increase the speed. I didn't see it in the selection there.
Let me go one more time, just to double check weight. Point settings back at maximum speed settings maximum horizontal speed, what we're half percent so that's, not it! Okay! Coming back at where we at now we're heading to weight. Point four: okay, where I don't know: if we're gon na be able to make at the Waypoint four because we're at 61 percent battery power right now, but my it's going down the road again. If we hit fifty percent before that we're going to stop and do a return to home before it reaches there, but 60 60 percent now distance of 236 meters it's, pretty close, so I ain't too worried right now: 59 percent anything happened. 219 meters actually I'm. A bias right now: 218 meters still heading down the road 220 meters, where we at on our map we're. Third of the way there it's the last Waypoint and 55 battery power. I think it'll make it. I think it's no problem so I'm gon na, let it complete its mission. Okay, 260 meters still heading down the road let's lower the give a little bit more, so we could see more of the ground. So again, you know this. Waypoint me thing would come in handy for, for those that have a lot large amount of land that you want to survey or those on vacation want to survey your vacation area where you're at this will do. It seems to do it very well.
Actually, 360 meters. We are 50 percent battery power folks but I'm continuing that bond, because we're almost at that next Waypoint, their Waypoint number for 400 meters, 408 metres 4' for 45 meters. So far a pretty good mission. Almost at that point, we almost there yeah almost there. Where is that point yet by the way near the that road air comes off from the left, there 520 meters at 49 percent battery power, again I'm keeping? My antennas pointed in that direction, 45, 44 and there's that road coming up. We should turn at that road. Now in the waypoint settings, I've turned off all of the the delay settings for each Waypoint and set like 1 or 2 meter seconds who wants the set at a waypoint for 1 or 2 seconds. I just turn that to 0, so it goes on to the next Waypoint immediately like so now, it's coming directly back toward us, 41 percent battery power we'll get another estimate of maximum battery power for the xeno Pro. But out of curiosity, I wonder how they actually get this increased range of this. What are they, whether they actually bumped up the? What do you call it transmission power of the drone, vs or transmission power, yeah of the drone or the reception power of the receiver? I don't know which what they've done to actually get this type of range on this drone or four and fifty six meters at 37 percent battery power.
It should be able to make it here, pushing it 37 percent. I believe it does it automatically and they get 20 percent, but yeah. I can see our car there, so it'll be coming up this. The word is here shortly: we are 330 meters at 300, 300 meters on man, 35 battery power, good satellite 16 strong signal. My signal bars here: 220 meters up they had 31 battery power, you'd hear it now and 180 meters, 190 meters. I started hearing it so again. It is somewhat of a loud room but again it's real quiet out here, where we're at there's, nobody out of here with us, except so you want people over there, camping but there's, no noise coming from them and there's a take off site. So, oh no, this good flight. I hope the recording is coming out all right. I'M gon na check this, my hat real quick. That would be bad if I forgot to start the recording on my hat camera check, you checking my head camera. Okay, there. It is up in the sky and that's the end of the mission, so let's come back down, it's turning itself where's it going now or is it going on out? Okay, the battery level is thirty percent. I only got an 8 gigabyte card in here, but it is class 10 card. One of the few that I had. I didn't think I'd be flying this long. Oh we're, gon na finish it up right now. We don't need to do any more recording a video but that's its flight time. We'Re gon na fly it until it. It actually stops and returns home just to confirm that it it's quite time what its flight time is. I'Ve been getting an average about 1718 minutes, it's advertised at 23 minutes, but you know that's, probably for steady, hovering in place, but flies like that or seriously it up hovers for 23 minutes. Most people are going to be out flying like this, so um. The improvements on this Zeno – you know 1500 meter range comfortably uncomfortably got out there to about that again yesterday, I only got them about 1100 meter range I'm still going to show that video just to show that there is sometimes possibility of you getting less than 4 Kilometer range again, nobody should really fly this out to 4 kilometers, oh that's that's asking for trouble unless you plan to land it out there at 4, kilometers you're not going to be able to make it back there. You know I just did this little Waypoint mission and we were low on battery power already that this Waypoint mission was 2000 meters about 2000 meters and we were in a ran, low and battery there.
So the maximum range that you probably want to fly this thing would be: I don't know 2500 meters in that area. There that'd be about the max that I would recommend even considering flying those again 4 kilometers. I don't think it'll make it home. Ok, how much battery power 21 percent 21 percent is one. This thing that would land itself automatically. I guess you know the 20 23 minutes is flying this until you got 0 battery power that's. Another thing: nobody wants to do that either because that'll destroy the battery. After it lands on it on its automatic landing folks, I'm gon na try to see if we could actually take off again, just out of curiosity and that'll, probably squeeze out that last 23 minutes. But again I don't recommend doing such because you do such you are going damage the battery there 20, yet 21. Any minute now go here going overhead and there we go and it's doing its return to home. No battery returned home, get a vibration on the controller and it climbs climbs up to 20 meters. It goes back to its landing pad. Now, if you are at 500 meters and a 20 battery fire, you know something some extreme distance. You know what I'm saying folks is: don't rely on low battery return to home either you don't want to be a 20 battery at 500 meters or a thousand meters away, and have it do an automatic return down from there, because I really don't think it's gon Na make it home okay, so another caution for you, newer fliers out there to think about is when your low battery bring it home or bring it close in okay.

This time came in from the south. This time is that gon na help in any good can't seem to do it Hobson you got ta get this right. You know, eventually, I think you will get it right. You know future updated the firm or the software for this drum, but right now it doesn't want to do it. Let'S see if I can take off to the in the air again let's see if I get back in here yeah, so I guess you can't fly a little bit longer. I don't recommend it I'm going back down again because you aren't going to damage the battery. If you go down to zero, so just just out of curiosity, so maybe that's how they claim 23 minutes they're flying it down to zero percent. I would not do that. Folks. Preserve your batteries, they're, expensive, okay, turn it off the drone final thoughts, yeah it's capable some of its as you know, but with extended range folks and the ability to put in an ND filters in there.
