We'Ll fill a shock upgrade on the HP. X16. 8. 8. 9. Pretty straightforward video. Now this will also apply to. Let me grab it on the floor here. The SG 1602. Pro this is the same exact truck it's, just the truggy exact version of it. This took this video apply to that vehicle as well. Since I have both of them, I decided to do it on just the HP X. Truck it's, just gon na be a straightforward. Video here are the oil filled shocks these run about 7 bucks a pair. These are specifically sold for the HP x16, 8, 8, 9. But any 70 millimeter oil filled shocks you can buy and there should be quite a few of them more work, but these are so cheap and they're aluminum. So you know it's a nice upgrade over the existing shocks which you can see. It has a screw in here. Just you know, it looks like it's, no oil fill of shock let's see if I can move it around here to get a better view on the camera. There'S, a little screw you, you know it's a friction shock when it just has a screw in the cap, the hole at all at the top to hold it together. These work, okay, but they're, really bouncy so I'm gon na throw one will fill it shock on one side and leave a spring on the other side. Just to show you guys the difference.
You know here in the house and of course, I'll put all of them on and we'll take it outside and drive it around now. I'M gon na do another video on this car I'm, going to upgrade the the TX and rx there's a receiver, and the controller to this dumbo RC I'll do that in a future video, because that was the biggest fault of this car. For me, at least was the terrible range on the controller and receiver for both of my both of these vehicles. They just have no range from E at all. So since I got this dumbo RC I'm gon na make a separate video at that it's. One of you guys know that I decided to split into two videos to make them a little more brief, but I'll do the will fold shock upgrade. All of course you got to do is just take these the screw on the top here. The screw on the bottom make sure you hold on to those pull the shock off, put the little filled in and then screw these back in and you're done so it'd be a really easy. Upgrade I'm just gon na go ahead and put one of them on and we'll be right back here and I'll show you the difference. There'S not a make. You know, of course, it'll take jumps much better you're, not a handle better it's, just gon na be a much better vehicle. This is really cheap.
You know under 15 up great, so I'll be right. Back we'll go over that all right guys. I have the shock off now I'm. Going to show you really quick here before I actually put it on here is, of course, the new aluminum wheel, foot shock, and here is the original friction or what I call spring shock, really bouncy very cheap, and here is a wheel filled one and you can, If I be quiet, you can even hear the wheel, the the sound it makes it's just much much better damping. This is gon na make a huge difference. So let me go ahead and I'll put this shock on here. As you can see, here is removed. Here'S, a two screws here on the table: there's the metal pieces. The ring in the middle is part of the shocks that some some shocks, those those are those will come out but here's the screw so I'll be right. Back and we'll put that joy filled shock on now and then I'll show you the difference. Alright, guys I got the shock put on it. I mean he took like two minutes. It'S super simple. I mean it was no problem at all. Taking those screws out just get them lined up, there are two holes on each one of the shock mounts, so you know you can choose if you wanted to change the to the inner holes of the outer ones, I believe I'm using the outer ones as which Is what the original shock used here but yeah here it is and then here's the original you see let's come back to that so here's.
This oil filled look at the difference in that bounce, bounce, bounce and the nice dampening. This is gon na make a huge difference on this vehicle, and these shocked, it's, crazy to think is aluminum filled. Shocks are like less than seven dollars a pair, so less than fourteen dollars upgraded with foot shocks. I used to be a more expensive upgrade years ago. You know, and you just couldn't get a little foolish, especially alumina fill once for that price. So how do you recommend it? I don't have to even test this out outside, yet to know this is going to be a worthy upgrade. You can just tell it right here so I'm going to go ahead and take off these other three on the car here and then I'm gon na put those other oil filled, shocks on and then won't take it outside we'll. Do a little test drive to give you my impressions, you know, I think it it the old kind of difference it makes compared to with the spring shocks and then, like, I said, of course, stay tuned to the channel I'm going to do an upgrade to the The receiver here, which is a brush DSC receiver, combo and I'm gon na put this ESC from another one in hope that that works – and I put this via brush the obviously have to upgrade the ESC put this in and then the receiver, and these were some Lights with the dumbo RC I'll probably use on this as well, and it just upgrade this so it's got a nice receiver system.
Now, of course, for this specific car, the oil filled shocks makes a ton of sense upgrading the receiver. You know in the controller you know this is like the 37 or 40 controller. You know at this point you're spending as much as the truck cost. By doing all these upgrades, but it's still gon na make it really really nice, but the oil filled shocks or, I think, are a must on this vehicle. You may get lucky if you buy this and you may have really really you know acceptable range. Other people has a range that's been fine. I just have not had good range of either one of my hpx with SG 1602, hey, both it just was pitiful range on the control so that's. Why I'm upgrading with this dumbo RC, which is relatively new but they're, cheaper controllers out there, you can get a controller for 25 bucks that'll, do just a fine job too, so you don't have to go all the way up to a you know: a 35 controller. Alright guys that wraps up this little table portion how to put these water flow shocks on so stay tuned now, we'll go outside for the driver view here with all four wheels. Full shocks installed so be right, back, alright, guys so 6 HP, x16, 8. 8. 9 out and now for test run with these oil filled shocks, installs let's see how it works. We go. I can't tell it's going to be a huge difference, how to be much more stable and it wants to be much better.
Taking jumps now I'm gon na be using the HP x. Ground crush your controller because I it seemed at least in my test that one day that this work better had better range. It certainly has fine range I'm, a hbx, because I feel like the controllers. The problem, though it could just be the receiver doesn't, have good range on this. You know these are varies a lot from person to person, so let's go ahead and we'll. Take it out here, let's see how this works and, like I said there, won't come back with another video when I'm gon na actually try to upgrade the actual radio system and the ESC in this vehicle. Oh yeah, Oh flipped, it over it's, just a quick little struck with the brushless motor I'm. Just using the stock battery. You can certainly put a lipo battery in this truck. Now you have a lipo from the the Q 903 that I keep putting it rides. It will write a wheelie on you, but I can already see I can already tell oh yeah. I mean that will fold shocked the huge upgrade sure you're gon na still roll it like. I did there at times, oh, but jumping there. I could really tell a difference. You know it doesn't bounce when it hits the ground. Those little full shocks are gon na absorb that and it does seem to be more a bit more stable. So a little vehicle like this is so quick that the stability is not as easy to notice because it uh he says we saw there's still roll.
It really quick seems quicker to me today than I recall yeah. This is probably my favorite little. You know. 116 stale truck I've got several. Of course, the SG 1602 is the same truck, but the Q 903 from zillow Hong is really if that was a really good jump. There is a really you know this. You know how that was perfect. The 903 is really good, and my s max from Murray Mojave is also an excellent truck, but it's awfully heavy surprising that it's as quick as it is with all that extra weight, but the Q 903 is one where I really should get some of these. I think it's the same size shocks because it uh it um. The 903 is really bouncy bouncy earth and even this truck was so. It really needs oil filled shocks. I just haven't picked any up, you know for the queue 903, oh boy I've sure been flipping. It over a lot, I mean just it's gon na happen and give us a truck of the size. So, even though the shocks are certainly helping with the jumps, you're still gon na roll it, you know I'm turning it really abruptly. But I can tell a huge difference here and the jumps it's not bouncing nearly as much, and I say that never or bounces in the grass. But you get what I'm saying guys it doesn't have near the bounce. You can just see when I show you, the the oil filled shocks it's, just it has so much more smooth and be able to absorb the impact it's, not just bouncing right back, which the shot in the spring shocks just simply bounce right back and instantly without Absorbing, like the oil film, see I'm getting I'm getting much better range.
I with the stock system. I would be going out of range right about in here that's how bad it is I'm lying really both of them. So I could just stick with this controller, which was my intention and my original intentions just use this HDX Brown crusher controller cuz it's different, but uses the same protocol, but since I was offered to review the dumbo controller, I thought it well heck. This seems, like the most common sense, upgrade to try to upgrade the whole system in this, since I have the control range issues, so I figure I just do this and I could put in this. You know 1602, but I really would like to do all that grades to one truck since I got the oil full shock stuck in here. I got quite a few RC trucks that I could upgrade. The radio system might just suck this one. It made the most sense – hopefully, the ESC I got, which I pull it on EFS racing truck will have no problems working so assuming that that works. Okay. For me, then, I'll be able to upgrade the controller, but we'll review that controller briefly and then install into this truck or possibly another one. If I have to, but I plan on putting on this one Applause, yeah the shocks are definitely making a difference, but again a truck of this size, so the brushless motor is it's very prone to rolling. So if you saw I've had to flip it over on its wheels quite a few times, that's just part of what you're gon na have to deal with is something like this, but I feel like you're gon na probably roll it even more on the stock spring.
Friction shocks because it's, so bouncy, it's gon na bounce over even easier wrote a wheelie. So if you did check out my original review of this, you would see that you don't, have to put this a wheelie bar on. It does add a little weight, but I do because you can see with that acceleration at times it will ride a wheelie despite being four wheel drive and that will help keep it on. You know from flipping over so alright, I don't need to drive it around. A whole lot here, guy just want to get an idea, this really cheap less than 15 up great now I was checking on banggood that's. Where I got these shocks, you probably get them on eBay as well. They may not be the same brand, but if you want to get these from banggood there's a link in the description to these shocks, it said that you they were on a rival notice, so they're out of stock. So when I got him, they were in stock. They'Ve obviously sold a bunch of these because people who are buying this – because this is a popular truck of picked off shocks up because they want they know don't. We all feel shocks, make it big upgrade to this truck. So I'll put a link down there in description to these shocks, but you may do ordering may have to wait a few weeks for them to come back into stock, so just be mindful that, if not check eBay or some references, seventy millimeters and you'll find some, Though I like, these are because they're aluminum they're, not plastics or not.
You know not that plastic shock to likely to break I've.
