    1. Thanks Iwan! Little extra efforts like this help these videos make the cut when folks search on keywords, which leads to more new viewers, which leads to more subscriptions, which leads to more higher end watches I can get from suppliers, so it really does help.

    1. Yippee! I thought a few folks would be excited about the update. It makes the S3 so much nicer to use, in simple, but effective ways.

  1. Thanks for the review:) Nice watch but.. most important question: will this work, can it get setup and paired with non-Samsung phones?

    1. Sure! Piece of cake. I’m tethered to my OnePlus 6T and also tethered it to my LG G3 for an earlier video. Works perfectly. When you first install the Samsung app, you need to install a couple of other small ‘patch’ apps (you’re guided through that during the install process) which have been added for Android non-Samsung compatibility.

  2. You are absolutely right Mr Ticks! My S3 Frontier has felt much more snappy the last week since the update. I watched an “advertising” video on a big tech channel some days ago praising the TicWatch E2 as the best smartwatch of 2019. I couldn’t help myself from writing a comment on that video, recommending people to look here instead for real an insightful advice. Keep up the good work!

    1. Thanks for the mention! Really appreciate it. Hardest thing is to pull over the mainstream audience to consider the full spectrum of smartwatches.

    1. One Euie. Like finger nails on a chalkboard. Euie Euie Euie. It’s my pet name for it. Can’t help it.

  3. Heh, I had the S3, returned it because bixby or whatever they call it on the watch was so stupid, it couldnt even calculate 2+2. Can the new firmware do basic math?

    1. Just checked it, and it still uses the “S Voice” which came BEFORE Bixby, and it still can’t do basic math. Guess I never use it so not a big issue for me.

  4. I want to buy an S3 Frontier after watching your video. I assume the firmware update is also available for the Frontier, aside from the S3 Classic. However, which Android app is used to connect to the S3 Frontier? The Samsung Gear app apparently was removed from the Play Store and now replaced with the Galaxy Wearable app.. but reading thru the app’s info it doesn’t mention compatibility with the S3 Frontier…….

  5. I have S3 on tmobile but have not received update one UI. Does the watch have to be paired to a samsung phone to get update?

  6. I have the s3 frontier and thats ip68 , works great after a swim. One ui update seems to give the battery a boost

  7. I’m quite surprised how Samsung has still supported this even when the whole tech community has practically forgotten about this watch.

I was always a big fan of this watch. It boasted a nice circular design, rotating bezel controls, and a good battery life. I’m happy to see Samsung still supporting this watch.
