So if you want to keep on with kind of what you’ve got working right now, where you take a photo on your phone and you can just back it up to some online uh storage, there are a handful of different options, so one of them is mega. They give you 20 gigabytes of free storage. Another one is google one. You can just keep using google photos exactly the same way just um. You start to pay for it, so they can tell you. You know how much you get. Obviously, everybody gets their 15 gigs free, but um you’re, probably watching this, because you had more than that stored or you plan to have more than that um. So, in which case you will need to start um paying for the google photos and google one is what it’s called um. If you have an iphone um, you might find that you know it’s easier to use a native apple solution, in which case you can go for the icloud icloud um, and i just notice up here. They also have icloud for windows. Most of the time you can get uh any of these solutions on either android. You know windows, mac, what you you name it. They usually have a client that you can install on whatever your devices. Another one is amazon. I can’t remember the name. It might be called amazon photos, it might be something included with your prime, but i know that they are also something uh, they’re, also a place that offers that backup and storage service um.

If you are a windows user again, you may prefer um yeah i’m, just going to stay where i am. You may prefer sticking with something native to your operating system, in which case you have the onedrive personal cloud storage um, just like google. Most of them offer a little bit for free, and then you know you have to pay when you um start getting a little bit uh higher up there. The other option that we have not really talked about yet is well what if we don’t use a cloud storage system? What if we just take all of our photos – and you know we plug our phone into a laptop or a desktop and just drag and drop them into a folder Music? That is certainly what you can do. You know just drag and drop them in keep them on your pc and then delete them off. Your phone that’ll save a bunch of storage space on your phone um, but then you might um end up in a place like this, where you’ve got one folder. I just called it too many pictures, because i’ve got 2600 pictures in here and there’s no organization. You know they’re called 119 174. You know i’ve got no idea. What any of these pictures are uh, where they came from any of that stuff. So there’s a few things that can help you out if you’re in this particular situation. Windows comes with a handful of options for you.

So if you go up here to view so i’m, just in my regular windows explorer file, browser and i’m going up to view click there, you can see there’s different layouts that you can use so right now, i’ve got details on. We can check out what some of the other ones are by just hovering over them. We’Ve got medium icons and you can see everything snaps into a medium photo. You’Ve got large icons. So already this is going to be easier for organizing photos, because i can see things you know i can actually see the photos. We’Ve got extra large icons and, oh, those are huge there’s. No doubt you know about what any of these photos are. It’S very easy to see them, then we can go to small icons. Doesn’T really help us in this particular uh case same with list um tiles that’s, not so bad, um content ooh. I don’t like that one okay, so we could go with extra large icons. Large icons, medium icons, um, but we have another option. What i’m going to do is i’m going to keep it on details, because i really like details view because i like to be able to see this. This kind of info here and we’ll go into more detail about what that is in a minute. But for the moment, what i’m going to do is i’m going to enable over here we can see there’s a thing called preview pane.

So if we click that what that does is it opens up a preview, so, whichever image you’re clicked on that’s, the one you’ll be previewing so with that enabled um. If we keep it on details, we can still see things like date, file type, and you can always make your windows. You know bigger, smaller, whatever oops, whatever you need them to be um, so we can see date type size. You know that stuff is maybe helpful. Maybe it’s not what, if uh we wanted something slightly different there. Well, we can go back up to view and under current view we can add columns, and here we can see date created date, modified date taken. So that could be helpful. Let’S. Add that one on so date take and it’s there. None of these are actual photos that come from a camera. These are all 3d renders so they won’t have a date taken on them, but uh. The fact remains, you can add some of this other stuff on. So we can also choose dimensions. If you have say you know a phone that takes photos of a very specific size um, then you know you can see that along here. I think. Probably all of these are going to be 1920 by 1080. um. Okay. So now that we have all of these columns well, what can we do with them? So we’ve got this over here, so we can um see you know this is the name of the file double o two double o or triple o two triple o three.

If we want to, we can organize everything by name, so we can say sort it by name so that all goes up alphabetically. If you click it twice, it’ll sort down, so that can help you sort things alphabetically. You might find that um. You know you want to just see the photos that you took last year um in that case you can go up to the date up here or you know the date taken date modified whichever one you choose and you can sort by date. So click on date and that’ll again sort it from the uh, so that’s going to be the oldest one at the very bottom up to the newer ones up at the top um sorting by date you can sort by type. So this is good um. You can see i’ve got some in here that are png files. I’Ve got others in here that are jpg files. So again your your cell phone, your camera, might take a specific type of file. It might take a jpg, it might take um a raw, some other type of file, and you might find that it’s more helpful to sort by type that way. You’Ve got all your jpegs in one and all your pngs in a separate spot. Same thing goes for the size here, so you know. Maybe you have a digital camera that takes really high quality, high def images and they’re really super huge file size and then you’ve got a cell phone.

That stores really nice small photos that are easy to. You know send text email, so if you sort by size, then you can see the smaller images down here, whereas the bigger images, the ones more likely to be. You know your raw high def images will be towards the top. So again, we can sort by name by date by type. If you want to see all the options available to you, you can go up to view, add columns and uh. You can also change if you don’t want to see the details. You know if you just want to see your uh icons of what uh your photos are. Then you can choose one of these other options here and you can always cut and paste files too. So you can cut these from here and then paste them into there, so that should hopefully help you. What else might you need to do? You know one thing you might need to do: you might need to right click and go new folder and then that’ll give you a new folder to sort your photos in so yeah. I hope that is helpful. You’Ve got a bunch of online options. This is how you would manage your photos locally. If you’ve got, you know a massive collection from many years and they are all just called. You know image one image, two or pixel one pixel, three, whatever your uh phone or your naming system, happens to be um.
