This helicopter has wi fi fpv i've always wondered why someone didn't put a camera on the nose of a helicopter just to give perspective what it'd be like, because helicopters are still quite popular, and you know you can just wi fi fpv pretty cheap. Nowadays, if you see them all the toy drones, so i was kind of excited to see this and jump the opportunity to review this let's see how it does compared to the toy drones. You know so i think it and i don't know what we'll see how it is: i've not tested it at all. This thing, my maiden flight, so we'll see how this little helicopter does. You can see. It'S got a lot of metal too we'll go over the helicopter, some more in just a minute. You can see here they show it on the box. I guess the name is a metal scout there's, not a whole lot of information. There'S some information here on the side of this, the udi rc. Now here is the controller. It uh feels pretty nicely uh built um. You put the phone uh clip holder for your smartphone and the app which we'll go over in just a moment. It has a photo and a video button here which should start the recording on the app because there's no sd card on this. So all the footage will be saved to the app and the internal storage on your phone. You got, i think, it's got two rates.
Uh we'll confirm that when we fly and then it looks like an auto takeoff and an auto landing that's, all there is of course it's. Just you know it doesn't you don't have any kind of yaw control. It looks like it's just throttle and like a pitch and roll, so it's rather limited on the controls. You get some spare a spare propeller and a screwdriver and a weird rotor there. If that would break a little instruction manual here, here's your charger, a little usb with a little micro, lossy connector – and here is the lipo battery. It is a 350 milliamp hour, little 1s lipo again with that micro, low seat connector and i think that's all the stuff guys there's not a whole lot with this little helicopter, but i will see how it does. I think the flight time on this thing is probably going to be four or five minutes. I i know they tell you in the instruction manual, but you know today is a really nice calm day here and my in laws so i'm gon na fly it outside. It is 2.4 gigahertz it's. Not one of those bluetooth. Excuse me, i want to say, bluetooth: infrared controlled um, like you see uh some of the uh cheap helicopters use which those are made for indoors this you can certainly fly outdoors we'll see what kind of pitch it has actually no problems today, but on an average Day with some wind we'll see, if i think it can handle any wind outdoors or not, it shouldn't be okay as long as it's not really really windy.
So what i'm going to do is i'm going to get the battery. The battery does go here in the bottom, this little tray and then it plugs here in the side and then your on and off switch is right here on the other side. So let me go ahead and get the battery hooked up, get it bound to the app now. Let me show you: let me show you that real quick tricks i wanted to mention the app is called the um flying c app that's, the one you to download and i've already got it. I started up while ago, but the flying c app i'll put a screenshot here from the play store, that's the app you need to use because they don't they tell you that then i think they link you differently. So you got to make sure you get the flying c app the qr code, that's on that comes with this links you to a gps app and that can't be right, so make sure you get the flying c app from yeah, udi, rc and that'll be for The helicopter, so let me pause the video and i'll get everything connected and we'll. Take it up here for a test flight, so we'll be right back guys, okay, guys, so i have it bound up. You can see it kind of alternates, a blue and red light here on each side. That'S gon na be sort of for your orientation and i've got it connected and bound.
You do need to connect to the wi fi there's a little bit of lag, but it's. Not too terrible, especially when you're close with the ab now to do a gyro calibration, because this does have a gyro to make sure it knows level put on a level surface here, and it says just i want to move some of the stuff out of the Way on the table here and it says to just: do your right stick and i don't know if this will show up guys down to the right and there it did flash. So you just do just your right stick down and to the right and it will do the level calibration. I just did it there a moment ago, because the red and blue light flashed really quickly and that lets you know that it did calibrate the gyro. So what we'll do here now i'm going to go ahead and start recording now, if you can use the controller or the app, and i did already confirm pressing the record button on the controller here: lights, up, red and now it's recording the fpv footage. So let's go ahead and try the auto take off there. We go, we got it. This is in the lowest rate. Your y'all, your your yaw, is actually on the right stick. So i said while ago there's no yaw there's just no roll, so you got y'all on the right and your pitch and then your throttle is going to raise you up or down on altitude.
So very basic controls, that's the lowest rate let's go ahead and switch to the higher rate yeah, just two rates: yeah that's, that's sportier, again yeah. It doesn't have a ton of pitch like a lot of these uh beginner helicopters, it's totally fine today. But if there was much wind you would have problems again: i'm used to mode two flight for a drone, so i got ta really get used to the yaw on the right. Stick yeah! This is a gentle flyer. This is gon na be better indoors, so, even in the highest rate, you need to fly on a day when there's no wind, like today, otherwise you're not going to be able to make it around it's going to get even the slightest wind gusts is going to Blow the sky around, but the fpv footage let's take a look here at the lag is not bad and i'm, not seeing a ton of jello wobble and that's good. You know i was. It was my biggest concern with these two. You know big rotors. On top, would there be a lot of jell o wobble from vibration on those big props and i'm, not seeing a lot of it? I'M sure there's, some most it's just going to be wobble just in the unstabilized camera yeah. I like this i'm i'm it's. Very look how stable that is, because again, there's no wind today. Another thing i should need. I wanted to show you guys and i'm not going to show it here in the air, but you can adjust the tilt of that camera.
It is manually you have! You have to do it with your finger. I think i have it pointed right now straight out. You could aim this down, so if you wanted to aim it down, you could do that, but be mindful that you're going to be looking at the ground. The whole time you're not going to be able to film anything unless you're, just trying to film let's, say the top of your roof or something yeah very stable flyer. Not really quick. It'S, not a sport flyer be perfect for indoors, because it's not too fast to where you're going to be banging into the walls and with it being 2.4 gigahertz you're gon na have no range issues. This guy takes four double a batteries in the back, but yeah the camera doesn't. Look too bad to me. The colors look pretty decent and the wi fi lag is not too bad it's about typical, maybe a little better than than normal, but certainly not bad. Some of these wi fi flyers can have really bad latency and that causes you know, make it. You know you could fly this by fpv it's what i'm getting at, whereas you couldn't fly all of the drones at least i've thrown an fpv wi fi. They some of them are so laggy you would trash before you knew to turn this one's, not not too bad, and this would be fine. This is perfect for a beginner, because you don't need to know the controls.
Let'S say if you're someone who's not flown drones and you're, not you know you don't have that in your mind, where you're thinking you know pitch roll on the you know pitch and roll on the right and yaw and throttle on the left. Your yaw is on the right let's bring this in here and do an auto landing, see how well this lands, these helicopters, usually land. Pretty good let's press that uh land button, oops i'm, going to be in the rocks here. Let'S see how it lands in the rocks that lands really nice, really nice. Wonderful. That is a really good landing. Let me show you guys that tilted the tilt on the camera. Now that i got it on the ground, you can tilt this, so i could tilt it straight down if i wanted to fly, but i'd be just looking at the rock so i'm going to put it up as high as it'll go. But again you can tilt it all the way down 90 degrees and film straight down at the ground if you needed to, but for most people that's not going to be very practical, because you can't tell where you're going let's go ahead and set it back on The ground let's get it back in the air fly a little bit more. There shouldn't be a whole lot of flight time left, so let's go ahead and take off again again. This doesn't have a really long advertised flight time, but we're just taking it easy too, and there's no wind to fight so you're going to get a.
This is the best environment for your longest flight time outdoors on a day like today, where it's not fighting any wind but yeah, it's, very, very slow, but it's, very, very stable and very easy to fly. Let'S slide. I can see a little wobble, but again a lot of that's. Just the unstabilized camera let's fly it back. Yeah, just really slow. Let'S confirm that i'm in the highest rate, yeah it's a little bit more pitch in the highest rate, but not a lot of difference. Now, since this is a wi fi fpv, only without any memory card be sure that you stop your recording before you power it off. If you want to keep that footage, because there's a good chance that could corrupt your footage, if you lose power off the draw the helicopter without stopping your recording that's, just a very common problem with these wi fi fpv only recording drones and helicopters, yeah that's about It there's not any kind of tricks. This isn't, this isn't, a stunt copter you can't, do anything like that. All right, we're getting some beeping here. That means we're on low battery. The controller is actually an audible beep, so i'm going to do is let's go and it's actually vibrating. My phone, so i'm going to do is let's press the record button. Let'S! Stop that now the red light's gone out. So we got our footage saved let's back it up here, let's just bring it around here and we'll land it.
So i get audible beat for the controller and then it causes the haptic feedback. My phone vibrates to let me know that uh it's also low let's. Just try let's see if i can do a manual landing, just throttle it down and see if it lands yeah all right, that's perfect and you do have a battery meter here that i wasn't paying attention to, but we can see we're 11 on the battery, so It'S playing yellow, so i really like you've got your battery information here, so we can see we're getting low and that lets you know not only the low voltage alarm and the um vibration, but you can see it in the app and you don't usually get battery Telemetry information on these kind of uh little toy stuff in the app, usually it's, just an audible, beep or a flashing light all right guys. We got a ton of beep in here i'm gon na go ahead and turn off the controller. So you guys can listen to that. I got the recording saved and yeah we're still bound up, as you can see the app, but the controller at least not beeping at us anymore, all right guys if you're interested in this little helicopter. You can pick this up again. This is ud or udi rc. They make a lot of really good little drones and boats, and this helicopter – you can pick it up in banggood. I'Ll include the purchase link to this.
If you want to pick this little guy up and make a really good present for someone who, just maybe uh you know a father uh, a grandfather wants to fly something around his house or a teenager. Someone who just wants to get into flying aerial stuff around this would be perfect and you get a camera and that's the big difference on this, so i'll clean that purchase link be sure to check the description if you're interested in this. If i have any kind of coupon something i'll also include that be sure to subscribe to the channel guys. I appreciate all the subscriptions let's get up to 10 000 subs i'm. Super excited to know that i might be able to reach that by the end of the year be sure to click the bell.
