This is the first video i've posted in several weeks because i've been moving and finally got into some temporary well floating between my in laws and my parents house. So today, i'm back in my hometown, near my parents house and my old grade school here, where i'm going to take the longman technology – lm01 gps drone up for a test flight, now there's a road right near me. So if you hear a lot of noise here at times from vehicles, i need to apologize it's just the traffic going by like right now. So i did get this drone a few months ago and i had a bit of a problem with it. Uh it flew off on me. It didn't return home, so we'll see how this one does uh. It does have a you know: you can pivot. The camera hit the 1080p camera on this little guy it's a 2s lipo in here, and it is a gps drone. It has follow me and it has like a dynamic, follow me as well. I believe, if i understood instructions correctly, and it has orbit mode waypoints all the typical stuff you'd expect with the gps drone now, because i'm floating in between two different places for the next three to four months. Their views are not going to be as in depth as i typically do so i have to apologize for that i'm. Not. I don't have a place to do my um table reviews and unboxings, and all that so they're going to be more in the style.
I guess you'd say quadcopter 101's old videos where he did the reviews outdoors, like this i'm, going to be doing more like that now you know that's just kind of what i have to do right now, so i'll try to cover what i can, but in three To four months, when i get situated in the new house, i'll be able to uh get back to my old methods and be more thorough, so i have to apologize for that, but i'm sure you guys do understand what i'm going through right now. So what we're going to do first is we're going to uh, get it bound up with the fi. I think it's 5g, the wi fi on this and get the app opened up and then we'll do the compass calibration and then we'll take it up, and i don't know how long the flight time is going to be. I think that i think it was a 850 milliamp hour battery in here and uh. I don't expect it to fly real long, so i don't know if we're gon na have time to do all the different modes in the test, but i'll at least get it up. Let you guys see the camera see how well it does on a return to home accuracy and all that good stuff on this guy now uh. As far as i can see, there's no memory card slot on this guy, so it does record over the wi fi to your phone, so that's kind of unfortunate.
But what i'm going to do is i'm, just going to use a screen, recording and use that as the video, because it's going to be identical to what you're going to see say to the app except for, of course, you'll have the icons and stuff that you Won'T have in the app video, but otherwise it's going to be just the same. So let me grab the controller here and i'll go over the controller, real, quick guys. I got on the bench here. Um turn it around. Now i don't have the ant antennas extended because these are fake. So i get a lot of questions on my channel. People are like well. Why didn't you? You know you idiot. Why didn't you raise up the don't say some pretty vile things about the antennas. Well, why would you extend faked antennas? These are just for, looks they're, just a nail, a pin through a piece of plastic there's, no wire in there. They don't do anything on these toy control controllers, so there's no need to extend them. It will do nothing except for look cool so on your controls. Here, you've got your return to home your emergency motor. Stop your auto takeoff on a landing which i think you'd still need we'll test it. I think you may have to still unlock the props, with both sticks down and out. You'Ve got your headless mode here. Altitude hold only this turns your gps off and on you've got your uh gyro calibration and in here you've got your compass calibration, which we'll do we'll do both of those up top.
You got your speeds, i believe it's just two speed race, but it could be three. I can't remember it's been a while, since i flew the other one which flew away and then this is your photo long. Press and short press excuse me short press for photo long press for video we'll test that out with the app. If it doesn't start an app, then we'll use the app to start the video. Sometimes these controls don't always work with the app, but it should to actually start tilling the app to record the video. So the first thing we're going to do here is we're going to turn the drone on now. The drone has a little on off switch here on the bottom, so i'm going to set it in this little gravel flat spot here. So go ahead and turn this on and you'll see. It'S got some blue lights on the front and red lights in the rear. Let'S set this down on the ground turn the controller on i'll, do a binding sequence because it's usually what you need to do, and now the lights are flashing, so it's looking for its gps signal, but you should do a compass calibration. In fact, most of these toy drones require you to do a confidence calibration on every flight, though occasionally you get one that doesn't make you do it because you shouldn't have to calibrate a compass every single time you fly if you're flying in approximately the same location.
So let's go ahead and we're going to let's go ahead and bind up the app first before we go into the compass calibration so i'm going to go into my phone settings here. Let me let me start uh. Let me make sure i got my screen. I got my screen recording going so i'm going to go into the settings to your wi, fi and let's, see if it pops up here and it's the lm and it's actually 2.4. The instruction manual says 5g, but this one is 2.4, so i'm gon na the lm wi fi 2.4 and it says it's hand ip address and it's now connected. So now the app you're going to go into is called the rc fun is the app and let's go and start it up and let's make sure that the screen did rotate and it did and then you're going to go in and click on begin let's see. We got there, we got the feet up now, so there we go and what we're gon na do is uh we'll. Do the compass calibration. So what you do is you just press on this compass calibration one now it's beeping, and it wants you to do some rotations with the drone out like this, so we're going to do a rotation like this Applause all the way around and now the rear lights Are flashing then do a nose down? I believe it is and we'll do this one and then it should complete the compass calibration so i'm, not getting any notification on my on the app that i can see.
Oh, it does see it down the bottom left and now i think we are we're good, because now all the lights are flashing, like it's doing the uh yeah it says now. Please take the drone empty horizon surface and take off later well it's telling us that it's looking for the gps signal, so thankfully, these compass calibrations are quite easy on most of these drones. Nowadays, just one rotation horizontal one vertical, and then it sees this ready to go so right now, we're waiting to see if we can take off it does say that we are ready to fly so it says it has enough satellites i can't see in the glare. I want to think it's – maybe nine there's a lot of glare here guys. So i can see the the meter up here on the right. So we'll include some video here. The screen recording let's go ahead and let's do the auto take off and see if that works, yeah that does let's make sure it doesn't toilet bowl i'm going to give it some throttle and let's see if it holds position, let's check how many rates it has Has two i'm going to uh we'll start at the lowest rate and let's go to the highest rate and that y'all's fixed so it's just going to be more uh sporty in the higher rate, so yeah it seems to be flying quite nice. Now the first one i got did as well, i just got it up and it got caught in the wind and i couldn't get it to come back and it just drifted away until i lost it.
I maybe flew it on too windy of a day. I don't know so: it's gon na fly it out here away guys fly it up over this baseball diamond here and then we'll do a return to home that's. Now in the settings here, let's go up here, i forgot to check. There is a novice mode which i believe is turned off the flight distance let's. It looks like it's all maxed out, so you can turn on that novice mode. See there i'm going to turn it back off, exit determine, go ahead and let's set these all the way up. You want. It has flight distance and flight height, but it has no um well, it does have flight distance and flight height now and then you return to home altitude. So you got your distance, your height, when i did this drone back originally it was like it had these. They were different and it wasn't right. It had like flight distance and then just had um just be flight height and return to home altitude like it didn't have the distance or something in it so i'm, just going to click save there, and hopefully this does save. Sometimes these parameters, as you can see it, says, still saving there. It went all right and let's go ahead and let's uh that looks like the uh. The wi fi feed is frozen, yeah let's let's go out and back to begin and see if it works now.
Well, what what i'll do there is we'll we'll land it and get that that fixed let's go ahead and do sometimes you get in these settings and then the wi fi feed freezes up. I can still see how i'm flying it here. I'M. Not very far away looks like the whole app is frozen so i'm going to go ahead and do the return to home. Let'S fly it back here, it's going to go up to turn height, as you guys, hopefully can see, fly back overhead and it should land. Hopefully it does well, we don't hit these trees, so here it's zipping back over there. It is all right up overhead and it's going to turn itself to face the same direction as it was when it took off, and i kept sure i could correct it. If i need to, if your controller looks like it's doing a pretty good job, i got ta get the app, obviously working again guys so that i can uh test out more features. That'S pretty good. I didn't mark an x here. I don't have my uh helipad with him that's, pretty darn close to where i took off i'm gon na press return to home again to cancel that. So we got the beeping. Stopping and uh let's go ahead and go back and try one more time and see if we can get the there we go. The video feed is back everything. At least the video feed seems to be working.
I think the telemetry may be still frozen, but let's see if we go ahead and take this up now and take it back out and test some of the other features so, like i said, the novice mode is turned off by default and they do have it Knocked up high on the uh return to home, height and distance, and that the original app when i had this originally was all goofed up and it was like hitting a geo fence and stuff, and that also, i think, contributed to the reason why that drone got Caught in the wind and never came back it just didn't have the pitch and the ability to make it back so let's go ahead now and we'll take off and let's um let's try the return to whole. Excuse me as they follow me. Like the dynamic. Follow me and then we will maybe try the orbit if we have enough batteries, so let's go ahead and do an auto takeoff again i'm, going to uh slide over this way. So we don't hit the trees face it towards me and let's. Do the first follow me here if i can do it here, let's see if this works weak satellite signal, it says let's see if that's, working or not it may be saying there's, not enough satellites for that, because i'm, not getting any kind of confirmation phone signal Is too weak, it says on gps, so let's try the dyn this other one here now this one says make sure it's adequate light and you're good three to ten meters, which i am this one is going to.
I believe let me it's supposed to follow me. If i can draw a box around me down here and let's see if it follows supposed to, is it following me, let's move this way it doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot. Does it let's try i'm trying to stay within the three to ten let's, lower it down and it's altitude, and let me get my sunglasses off here: let's draw a box around me and then let's see if this this works guys i'm going to go this way. Yeah i'm not moving very fast and i'm, definitely within three to ten meters. This is supposed to be a dynamic track and this does not use a gps signal. I don't see any confirmation to let you say you start you just draw it. Yeah it's just going right outside the box. Let me make sure that let's try it again i'm going to try drawing the box around me and i just walk right out of the box so that the feature does not seem to be working at least not for me, and i don't see any confirmation like Somewhere, you tell the drone to start doing it like i'm walking outside the box and it's, not following me, so that doesn't seem to work very well all right, i'm, going to turn that feature off let's uh. My sunglasses back on guys reduce that glare and let's go uh. Take it over here and let's.
Try an orbit get away from those trees. Well, i got ta say i'm, not real happy with the follow me. I understand the first one was just a gps signal. It'S it's still saying the the phone's gps is too weak it's going to follow your phone's gps and for some reason, i'm, not getting a good signal. I'M, not going to fault the drone. For that, though, i'm not here to open, i should and let's try that orbit mode i'm. Just going to put in, like you know, uh let's see if i can put in five meters, confirm let's see if it does anything now. Sometimes you have to uh kind of. Is it going to go? You know you have to. Sometimes these are kind of hard to get these to get going on these orbit modes. It'S almost like these features are just now input the circle radius, so i'm, going to put i'll put 10 meters. This time done, confirm, that's and see i'm setting the uh the radius i'm going to fly it back it's, not doing anything, it's possible. I'M goofing up this circling mode, because sometimes these can be a good goofy but it's not doing anything because usually you're marking that point and you tilt the radius and then it's going to fly out and start doing a circle around that radius. Of that you know from that point or around that approximate point and it's not doing anything, so i don't know what's up with that guys.
So the battery looks like it's around half, so i've had no luck with the smart features which, unfortunately, with these toys is not all that uncommon. I do see it more than i like. Usually the follow me works good. I usually have some problems with these circling modes: they're kind of goofy, but i don't know why this circle me mode. You know i'm inputting a distance, let's, try 10 again done, confirm and let's see. Sometimes you just have to like you know and it's, not doing anything so yeah. It flies nice though i'll give it that and the camera is going to have a little wobble, but it seems decent it's not like a super toy grade camera. But i have no luck and you can see the pitch is pretty good on that i'll go to the lowest rate guys, so you can see there's the lowest rate and then highest rate it's got more pitch much sportier. These brushed motors let's turn off the altitude. The gps see, if that does anything let's see if it float. If that, if that worked, i pressed it surround exodus says down. There i don't know still seems to be in gps to me. Yeah i don't know what's up app has quite a bit of features in it. An instruction manual is not very um. It uses some broken english to describe some of the features that's. Why i'm a little uncertain? I did redo the instruction manual thoroughly before i came out here to refresh my memory on this guy and uh.
I wanted to try to touch on those features, but none of them are working. I can't get. The follow me is too weak of a signal. Let'S. Try it now and see real quick if it if it'll work let's see now i pressed it let's try. This cancel yeah still saying the gps is too weak on the phone. I have a hard time believing that my phone, pretty good phone, is not getting a good gps signal out here. I think it is uh this flaky app i'm, not real impressed with this app it's it's. You know it froze up once it seems to be fairly stable, otherwise, but none of the features work i'm, not having any luck wave at you guys. The follow me the dynamic tracking, which i call it here. You draw your square around it and lost. Please place target and even said it lost me now let's see it is kind of following me on the box now, but look oh, it is turning now i'm moving slow, let's see. If i want you to stay, maybe it was the lighting over there. Now the box is tracking me. This is an app powered feature. Let'S see is the drone gon na turn yeah, okay, so the dynamic tracking or active tracking is working. Okay, it's just yawling all right, so that does work all right, excellent i'm. Glad to see something actually work, it must have been something over in that environment.
I was over at while ago that it was it kept losing me and it could be. This green shirt was oops. I pumped my mic guys, so i made a weird sound. It could be that it was getting confused over there because it is still tracking me on this black asphalt let's. Take it up a little bit height looks like it's lost me now so yeah that that does work. So obviously, i would suggest using the dynamic tracking, if you're going to use this the second option, if the other one doesn't work, because it seems like it just keeps telling me. I don't have a good gps signal which i don't believe all right. What'S it gon na do now it's going to fly back and land that's what i believe having said drone low voltage, that kind of scared me, because it just took off like a bat out of hell and it's, going to go land, not bad well. Overall, i got to say the drone's decent, i mean it does fly good. The low voltage return to home here worked perfect. The return to home worked perfect before that it was very accurate on where it came back and landed it um. The camera is okay. You know for what it is um, but you know some of the app features are not are the my biggest complaint your follow me. It says that the gps is too low on my phone, all the time, uh, the dynamic tracking, the second one does work orbit mode.
I can't get to work so overall, if you're not worried about all those smart features being perfectly working well, this drone is probably okay. If you can get it for the right price, i don't think i think it was like. Maybe around 80 bucks it's not super expensive, so it does fly really nice. It really has that hubstand. Look to it looks like those those hubsans that you like the desire. X4 pro. It looks like that, but it doesn't use the wonky bluetooth like that. One did so overall, if you can get this drone for the right price. I think it probably is: okay um. You know because the first one i had must have been a dud, but i just you know the smart features don't work particularly well. They follow me in the orbit mode. So if you use the dynamic follow me, it looks like that actually worked quite well, but again it depends. On your background. It did not see me at all my green shirt and those grass it couldn't follow me, but on the asphalt it was perfectly fine, all right guys that wraps up the review of the longman technology, lm01 little brushed budget, gps drone hope you guys enjoyed the review Again, sorry that things are not the way they typically are with my channel, they will be back to normal sometime. This fall, so things may not be quite as thorough as i typically are, but i think you guys will still appreciate the stuff be sure to subscribe to the channel.
You know and i'll try to upload as much as i can. It won't be as often as i used to, but it will be back to normal, soon be sure to click the bell.
