There is a great deal of celestial activity taking place in our skies with a series of asteroids passing dangerously close to the earth. Some passing between us and the moon with others measuring the size of the golden gate bridge. Our main concern when evaluating the dangers posed by asteroids is determining its distance, measured from the center point of our planet to the actual point of its entry. The closer is calculated approach to the earth, the greater the danger, and so far this year, the number of close encounters has been steadily on the rise, especially those that have passed less than one lunar distance of the earth.
