Looking at the front here, we can clearly tell that has multiple functionality, which is awesome, its made by foxwell, which have used their products before and they seem to work really well and they stand by their product. Heres, the screen thats going to show you what the battery result is going to look like, so the voltage, the measured uh cca or the call cranking amps uh the ratings. This would be something youre entering and it compares it to whats been measured. Of course, telling you the you know the status or the health of your battery here at the bottom, we can see that the screen is going to be 2.8 inch, tft color display operating temperatures and a couple other information in the back looks like its going to Be a color screen and, of course, its going to allow us to see if the car is ready to pass emissions and see some live data and graphite looks like, which is pretty good for this price point. Of course, we can see that it will read. Basically, any obd2 car thats been made in the last probably 20 years or even more depending on the country uh one key. I am right in this so thats great for emission testing and we can also test all of these types of batteries, so flooded, agm, gel and a couple other ones, and it works in all these different rating systems. Im going to be using cca just because thats, the one i know, but you can use all the other ones if thats what you are more familiar with, of course now of course, theres a lot more other functionality and looks like we have free software updates and Firmware updates your usb cables.

You will need a computer for that, but lets open the box see what we get and you know find out if its worth buying a two in one as you can see, it comes in its own pouch. So all of the cables and everything going to be easy to store on the left side. Here we have our clamp cable, so these are going to be connecting to the battery and on this side we have the actual scanner and the obd2 cable, its not removable. So i guess the way it works. Is you plug this part of the cable into this cable and then you can use it both ways, thats pretty cool? What else do we have in here? We have a usb mini usb, cable, so thats. If you want to update it, you will connect to the computer using basically that cable, i dont, see anything else, instructions or anything like that, but i think its pretty self explanatory and how to use it. I was wrong. Actually, there is a quick start guide, so it tells you how to update the device and how to do some uh testing and there is a full, fully flashed user guide that was in the box. I just missed it. This entire booklet is in english, so it gives you pretty deep instructions on everything and how to use everything in this device. Pretty cool im going to read through this and show you how its done all right so lets see what this device can do here in the main menu.

We have two main options: the first one is going to be obd2 and the second one is going to be battery, so thats going to scan your vehicle, and this will allow you to check your battery. We also have dtc lookup, so you can look up the codes and see what they mean exactly for your car. We also have review so you can review previously scanned vehicles. So if you scan something you want to review it later, you can save it in there and, of course, you can print that data as well, but of course it has to be connected to a computer. Next thing is settings so im going to go in here, mostly just to turn off the beeps i dont like those, so i usually turn them off were also going to turn them off for uh when were doing diagnostics. We can also do self testing here and you can change the units of measure from english to metric and you can also change the language. So if you need to change any of those things or even update, configure monitors, you can all do that here in the settings, but anyway lets see the scanning capabilities of this device and proceed from there. So, as you can see once i click on it, its going to use the correct protocol to scan the vehicle and show us the information like this emission testing, so as you can see, we have the green check marks, meaning uh.

We are good to go and the car would pass emissions and if you want to see more details, you can of course go to. I am readiness, if you click on that its going to basically the same scan but ill. Give you a couple of more options. You can do since the the quotes have been um cleared or this driving cycle im going to do since dts have been cleared. As you can see, everything looks okay or inconclusive for my evap system, which makes sense since the car hasnt been driven for a little bit, but basically this tells you that the car would pass emissions. What else can you see here? Well, you can read our read codes, so you can see stored codes, you can see pending codes and, of course, you can see permanent codes if this car had any. Fortunately, this car doesnt so were good to go, but you would be able to see all of that information just in here to be clear. This is information for your engine and transmission. Only this is not a module reading scanner but of course those are usually. You know three four times more expensive than what this is. Then we have a race code. So if you did have any code, you can erase them and you know be ready to troubleshoot the car. Of course, we also have live data. This is probably one of my favorite functionalities on this device. As far as the scanning parts, what this will do is read all of the pids in your vehicle, depending on your vehicle.

It could be, you know, 20 30 or it could be 50, 60 or even more, but all of this information is going to be once again related to um the vehicle engine or transmission. So we have our fuel system. We have our short term fuel trims. Long long term fuel trims, we have our spark advance. You have your math sensor, a lot of very, very useful information, which you can, of course, click on and then its going to graph for you and you can see you know while youre driving or think or somebody else is driving things like that. So we look at the temperature as an example its going to show you the temperature of the catalytic converter or anything else that the car reports. Of course, you can also do custom data sets. So if you go in there, you can select which items you want to be displayed. So, instead of displaying everything – and you know youre having to go back and forth trying to find it, you can scroll find what you need, select those items and then go back and youre just gon na have those three items on the screen. Instead of you know 50 or 60 or 70, so this makes it a lot easier to look at the data that you need to look at all right. So thats live data. If you go back to the diagnostics menu here, we have uh freeze data. So if your car has had issues with passing animations, you can see you, you can usually see what has been saved in there and thats going to tell you why the car didnt pass emissions.

We also have iem readiness which were already checked out. Next. We have onboard monitoring tests, so we can go in and use some of the standard, obd2 functionality that will allow us to, as an example, lets see, look at the misfire data for cylinder one through four, because this is a four cylinder car. We can monitor the catalytic converter, uh and a few other items that you know you can see on the screen of course, and then theres component test. This almost never works in bmws. Ive never had one that actually worked so im, not theres, not much. I can show you since its not supported in this vehicle, but we also have vehicle information, so its gon na it can pull up your vin number and some module information, and you can also look at the modules that are present or its using to connect to Obd2 and of course we can look at the units of measure switcher from here as well, but, like i said, this is basically a standard obd2 scanner with additional functionality of battery testing. So there are two versions of this scanner. You have the standard foxwell and t301, and this one and t31 plus the only difference is that the plus version offers battery testing capabilities. If you dont need the battery testing stuff, you just need what ive showed so far get the regular nt301 scanner, but lets go ahead and see how well the battery testing works and well continue with the video next lets test the battery functionality so im going to Plug in the battery leads into the obd 2 looking port.

Basically, now we have two clamps that we can plug into the battery im very impressed with the clamps, as you can see, theres an additional wire that goes from one side of the clamp to the other, making it safe on both clamps theres additional protection here. So you feel pretty safe when you use these, which is great so were gon na connect the red one first were gon na connect the negative wire as well or the negative clamp. Now the unit powers on and im sorry for the reflection, but not much. I can do were gon na go to battery hit enter, were gon na hit battery test where you are in the vehicle enter. This is an am agm battery. Okay were going to go by cca, so theyre called cranking amps and, as you can see, this is a 760 called cranking amps right there. So you can see that number on your battery were going to enter that information, so were going to go to 760.. Okay, im going to hit confirm now its testing the battery, yes, its above zero degrees celsius. No, all right! So, as we can see, the battery is at 12.06 volts, measured 433 cold cranking apps compared to the 760 that its supposed to be when its new, so state of health is 58 state of charge. State of charge is 41 percent, so there thats the result for us, so basically its telling us that the battery is still decent but definitely decreasing in size.

You can, of course, uh charge it up and then test it again and see how the cold cranking apps change. If this goes up a lot, that will tell you that the battery was actually just discharged, as we can see by the state of charge its 41. So if we charge it up to 100, we should bring this up much closer and well see the state of health, probably a little bit higher again, but, as you can see, you can see both results for your vehicle electronic codes and testing done from within the Vehicle or you can even test your physical battery in the trunk in case of this car or under the hood. So if you require a device that can do both of those things in a nice small package that you know, doesnt require additional wires other than this little extension has rubberized coating, good quality and its all in one. This is the device you need. If not, then you probably just need a regular scanner, the you know the not plus foxwell and t301, which would also do basically a very similar job without testing the battery.
