With me. We already did an unboxing and early impressions, uh video of this phone like a month ago and since then one of our team members has been using it as his daily driver alongside similarly priced phones like the realme 9 pro plus. So in this video i will be doing a thorough review of this phone um discussing all its pros and cons, but, more importantly, answering if you should buy the galaxy a33 or not so lets get started. Okay, kicking things off with the design, like other higher end, a series force of 2022. This one also has an attractive looking design and although its back is made entirely of plastic, there is nothing much to complain about here, since its hands on feel is quite good and ergonomic. What i also like about this design is that samsung has provided a matte finish on the back as well as on the frames. This helps you get a firm grip on the phone while making it less slippery. In addition, it even brings an official ip67 dust and splash resistance, which means that the galaxy a33 is one of the cheapest phones in the market to offer this degree of invest protection. Okay, another interesting bit about 2022s. A series lineup is that samsung has committed to using recycled material whenever possible. What this means is that the buttons and the sim card tree that you see here originated from discarded water bottles, um cd cases, grocery bags and such okay.

Over on to the front, you get a 6.4 inches full hd super amoled screen with a 90 hertz refresh rate, but neither of those things is any new in this price range, since you can get phones with a 120 hertz amoled screen at a much cheaper price. But if you look at the core quality of this display, i have always found the color optimization on samsungs panels to be superior to other brands. Here i uh compared the galaxy 33s display with the realme 9 pro plus, and what i can tell you is that the galaxy a33 has a slightly better quality screen in comparison. More specifically, we found it to have better details and slightly poppier colors. Likewise, both phones have wideband l1 and hdr certification for playing hd content off of streaming platforms like netflix and amazon, prime, where we faced no weird issues throughout the review period. You also get stereo speakers with dolby atmos on both these phones. Here the real me name pro plus, has a wider, sound stage, even though i prefer the clarity and punch of the galaxy a33. However, the a33 misses out on the good old 3.5 mm headphone jack that you get on the realme 9 pro plus. I also think that, given its price, samsung should have opted for a modern, looking punch hole rather than this outdated, teardrop knot here, although it could go unnoticed over time in this materialistic world that we live in, people might think youre carrying a budget phone or a Phone from say, 2018.

all right. Keeping that aside, the galaxy a33 does offer an in display fingerprint scanner, and it performs quite similarly in terms of speed and accuracy as the one on the realme 9 pro plus. If you turn off the animation in the settings, that is okay, the galaxy a33s biggest asset is its cameras. Although you do get a similar setup on the rear, mi9 pro plus as well. There is a vast difference in how these phones process an image, as you can see, photos from realmes primary camera are contrast heavy, while galaxy 33 captures more real to life. Pictures it even handles shadows better. Thus, the photos from the a33 usually look more pleasing to my eyes. The 8 megapixel ultra wide angle. Shots from both these phones are, however, nothing to write home about still. If i have to choose one, it would be the galaxy a33 thats because just like the primary shots, the ultra wide angle, images from the realme 9 pro plus, are too dark for my liking. Moving on the galaxy a33 clicks better, portraits too. The thing with real me is that it struggles with maintaining exposure as a result, more often than not, you will end up with a slightly over brightened subject or ones where this object looks a little hazy in challenging light situations. Overall, you will get better results with the galaxy a33 in most conditions. As for selfies, the differences are more subtle. While i like the skin tone and details of the galaxy a33s, normal selfies edge detection on portrait selfies is better on the realme 9 pro plus.

Instead, during low light conditions, realme does a much better job here and it certainly looks like samsung should bring an update to improve the low light photography on the galaxy a33 asap, as you can see, uh whether it is in regular nighttime shots or ones with night Mode enabled the realme 9 pro plus takes better photos in the dark in terms of video. Both phones can record up to 4k 30 fps. If you put their video side by side, you will notice that the ones from the realme 9 pro plus have better stability. However, it achieved such a result by cropping into the frame, which means that its videos are more zoomed in than that of the galaxy a33. And if you have a gimbal with you, the galaxy a33 will yield better results as it produces better colors and dynamic range. As for 1080p videos, we did not find one phone to be superior over the other; they are neck to neck when it comes to details and even stability. Its the same with the ultra wide angle, module as well. Both phones can capture ultra wide angle, videos at full, hd, 30 fps, but, as you can see, the ones from the realme 9 pro plus have a narrow field of view all right about the selfie videos. Well, both phones, let you shoot at 1080p 30fps by default, but the realme 9 pro plus has a slight edge here, as the skin tone on it looks a bit more natural.

The galaxy a33 has this unnatural red tint going all over the subjects face. However, the galaxy 33 lets you shoot at 4k resolution, whereas the rear mini 9 pro plus does not let you do that, okay time to talk about the performance, just like the galaxy m33 and a53. The galaxy a33 is also powered by the new exynos 1280 processor. It is samsungs latest in house 5nm chipset, which brings significant performance improvement over the helio g80 found on its predecessor, the galaxy a32 as powerful as this chip is. Sadly, samsung has not quite made the adequate optimizations required for a smooth smartphone experience. It has already been more than a month since we have been using this phone and we are yet to see any updates addressing this issue. Take gaming, for example, even in popular games like pubg mobile, you cannot push it beyond high frame rates, even when lowering the graphics too smooth. So you are stuck with a mediocre 30fps gameplay here. On the contrary, the realme 9 pro plus, can deliver a constant 40 fps, even when the graphics is set to hdr and as expected, the galaxy a33 struggles to play, games and impact even at the lowest of settings. The frame rate fluctuation here is quite a lot, and the phone also gets considerably warm in comparison. You can get fairly stable, 30 fps on the realme 9 pro plus in the same settings. Adding insult to the injury is the fact that you can even notice its lack of optimization during regular everyday tasks.

It might not be that obvious at first, but when comparing it against the realme 9 pro plus, you can see that the latter is snappier when it comes to opening apps or multitasking plus, because of a good quality haptic motor on the rear. Mi9 pro plus, you are getting a better experience, while typing as well the only thing thats better on the a33 as far as the user experience is concerned, is that its running on samsungs, one ui 4.1, which is more modern, looking and easier to use. It also comes with very few bloatware apps, but, more importantly, samsung has guaranteed three years of android and four years of security updates here with ryomi. You might only get one or two major os updates, so thats, something really good on a33s part still on. All samsung must improve the performance of this exynos chip, because if the galaxy a33 is already underperforming right now imagine how things will be in a year or two with android 13 update or not. Another crucial thing that we found is that the proximity sensor on this phone is a virtual one. Thus it may not work as intended all the time as for battery life, the exynos 1280s 5nm process, node means it should theoretically make the a33 more power efficient and therefore last longer right. But in our experience we found that it does not make a whole lot of difference compared to phones with eight nm or 12 nm chips on a full charge.

We were getting a pretty standard battery life compared to other phones with a 5 000 milliamp hour battery, which means uh fully of backup on moderate usage and on heavy usage pattern, including gaming shooting videos and such the screen on time would drop even further like with Most samsung phones, the galaxy a33 supports 25 watt fast charging as well, and yeah youve got to buy the charger separately here with a compatible 25 watt charger. The phones battery goes from 1 to 100 in around 1 hour and a half okay time. To conclude this video, so should you buy the galaxy a33 over the realme 9 pro plus? Well, it depends on what you intend to do with your phone. If you want better cameras and a marginally better screen quality for watching videos, the galaxy a33 is a better option plus it also comes with an ip67 rating and four years of promised software updates. However, it is crucial to know that the phones performance is pretty bad for the price, at least for now, since the exynos 1280 is not quite optimized yet, therefore, it lags behind the realme 9 pro plus in both real life usage, as well as gaming plus the Rme 9, pro plus also ships with a 65 watt fast charger included inside the box. So if you ask me, the realme, 9 pro plus brings in more value and a balanced set of specs in the mid range segment. Anyway, if you are determined on getting a samsung phone which is more balanced and has a better value for money, you will have to check out the new galaxy m53, whose review i will be coming up with really soon.

It brings a smoother 120 hertz amoled screen a 108 megapixel primary camera and a reliable diamond city 900 chipset all at a similar asking price, as the galaxy a33 also check out the deals on last years. Galaxy 52s from retail stores nearby, even though it was priced. Quite high at launch samsung has since slashed its price, and you should get it at a very good d right now for a slightly higher price than the galaxy a33. The a52s brings similar ipcertified design and camera prowess alongside significantly better performance, and it comes with a charger included inside the box as well, so guys that was all for our full review of the samsung galaxy a33.
